I just hope this doesn't fuck up the Redskins/Ravens game I'm going to on Sunday.
LOL, one of the charts I saw had center just off coast there during game time assuming an afternoon start.

We're going to be tailgating under an overpass. May have to just watch the full game from there lol.LOL, one of the charts I saw had center just off coast there during game time assuming an afternoon start.
Meh, it's actually kind of exciting. That is until your roof starts to rip off. Nothing really happens too badly around here. Some get flooded and that's about it.
When Hugo came through Charleston in the late 80's it was a cluster. They reversed the incoming lanes way to late. Haley said there are 1M peeps to evacuate and that takes time so I understand the early start. Better safe than dead. Thankfully my kid goes to private school and he won't be getting any days off. The public schools are closed so they can be shelters.
For a nominal fee.....Hotel Highland is open. The wife will be out of town til Sunday. I'll provide the beer.
I did fill up the spare gas can last night for the generator. No lines, no wait. The current report looks like we might get 1". I'm next to Augusta, GA.
This model must be insanely complex. Just this time yesterday when I Was posting in here, like 80% of the models had this hurricane running all the way up the east coast, coming up here off the coast of NJ. Now the most popular model has it taking a 90 degree turn eastward once it gets near SC/NC.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmk.
Go read the wiki page on hurricane prediction models, they'd make it sound like they have this shiz down to an exact science. You've even got NASA in on the fun... And they put ppl on the moon!! ... Or did they............???????Newsflash: no one can predict the weather, it's just another source to scare a bunch of people and make them give their money to a local grocery store and some gas stations.
It was just a few weeks ago where it was "BREAKING NEWS: LONG ISLAND BEACHES CLOSED. STAY INDOORS. DO NOT TRAVEL BETWEEN SATURDAY - TUESDAY" flashing across every television and every electric sign spanning the entire expressway. The weekend finally shows up and it's 80 degrees, sunny, and beautiful. I wish every weekend we had a hurricane that bad.
My door is open for any of you poor bastards taking the brunt of this. I've got plenty of whiskey.
OH you..... you don't know this fellow. That was a metaphor. By door, he means.... well.. you know. And by Whiskey he actually means wine coolers.I'm not currently expecting a direct hit, but if you've got good whiskey I'll stop by anyway.

Also, cmon guy, you know the media loves to/has to rile us all up. Why else would anybody watch or pay attention?

Wait ... when did I say 'good' whiskey?
Yeah well I ain't yo buddy, fwend.I'm not your guy, buddy!
My TV is 99.998% of the time tuned in on ESPN. I could give a fuck what building collapsed, what train derailed, what manhole exploded, how many accidents happened that day on the LIE, which plant caught fire, who shot who, what type of lives matter, who hates what, or what hurricane is 800 miles from Florida. Maybe if they broadcasted some more enlightening shit I might watch for a minute.
Interesting. So then the question is, why didn't that high pressure system move? The atmosphere is like one of those sliding number puzzle. No tile can move until another tile gets out of the way. As of yesterday there was a strong high pressure system set up 100 miles off the coast and if it stayed in place it was supposed to keep Matthew from making that typical sharp turn east that almost all hurricanes take eventually. Now the other system that blocked the high moved, so the high slid further off the coast and it's not blocking Matthew anymore. But now it's possible that the high only moves a little and when the hurricane runs into the back of that it will have nowhere to go and spin there for several days before moving again.
This has been a REALLY screwy forecast, more pieces that usual blocking things up and steering things around like a Chinese fire drill.

Yeah but who knows. Hopefully that one stays right though.Boo, today's forecast has it taking a sharp right at the carolinas.
