Where are people getting all these % discounts? Is there a list somewhere? Like does AAA have a discount?
google sprint eprp

also, there's a "corporate discount" link on their site where you enter your work email and it tells you if your company qualifies for a discount or not.

Called sprint retentions before I upgraded and they are giving me $10 dollars off for 24 months, a free airwave with monthly fee waved, on top of my 23% off I was getting and 300 bonus minutes on my 1500 family everything plan. Now just waiting for my phone to be delivered.

Whoa, how did you bring that up in order to get it?

I would think there are far more light users who don't even come close to using 5GB than there are heavy users. For that reason I don't think we'll see metered service from the carriers, at least not to any degree that actually benefits light users. They'll probably just opt to kick out chronic data hogs instead.

A couple points ...

I think the data does indicate that the AVERAGE user uses much less data than the heavy users do so that with flat fee plans the light and average users must subsidize the heavy users, or, turning things around, the heavy users are riding on the backs of the average users. If the cell companies were to change to a tiered or metered plan and the change was revenue neutral, the average user would see a small decrease in monthly charges but the heavy users would see a big increase.

Going forward, the cell companies are going to need to control heavy use or there network will be unusable and people will leave. I can see at some point a flat connection fee for full service of, say, $30/month and then billed at, say, $1.5/GB for all voice and data. However I think we'll see tiered billing before we see fully metered billing.

damn... Sero is so hard to let go.... only $30 a month..

but i do want something new... damn you sprint...

Why damn Sprint??? You're the one that wants to stay with that plan. You're lucky that Sprint even offered plans that cheap for what they were. If you want the latest and greatest you have to pay for it.

You'd be surprised how much these companies will bend to you if you threaten to cancel.

The problem is I can't tell them (in good conscience) that I would otherwise cancel because Sprint already has the best deal going..

If you are nearing the end of your contract or it has ended they will do a lot to keep you I have been with them for over 5 years for this reason. They gave me a Air rave free because I told them my signal was getting spotty which it has been since I moved, but they pretty much give them out for free with monthly fee waived to anyone that says they have poor reception at home. I bet I could have got more if I pushed it as it was all I said is “My contract is ending next month do you have any incentives for me to renew”. Renewing contract has no effect on upgrading, I bet if I waited a month I could have got them to throw in an evo for free. I heard some people are getting 20 a month off.

Here is link to get your discount: http://www.evpdiscount.com/ you can also just call sprint.

Hmm, I will have to give that a shot. I think my contract is up either this or next month.

You can also call Sprint to apply the discount. Fed employees get 15%, not sure what a statie like you gets. They probably add 15% to offset the tickets you write :)

Question: Is the EVO expected to be available via EPRP on day 1, or does the EPRP traditionally delay when new phones are offered?

A friend of mine was given one of these a week ago at a trade show. Its a nice device but large (undecided if too large). Unlike the incredible it seems to not suffer from weak signal or drop call; speaker is very loud.

I'm personally waiting for a couple of more reviews (even though I've played with a lived one). My two biggest concerns are usability as a phone (which looks very promising) and batter life (which looks less promising).

I was browsing and came across this deal for students for the EVO:

15% Discount Monthly Recurring Fees
Waived Activation Fee
Free Shipping
$50.00 Credit to New Accounts
$25.00 rebate on EVO

The website (www.studentrate.com) doesn't seem shady, however I'm going to check it out a little more. Anyone had experience with this website?

The Pre took about a week to get on the EPRP site.

My plan officially switched from SERO to EPRP yesterday (end of billing cycle) and I preordered the Evo. Hopefully they let me activate on the 4th.

Yeah, I have to agree. In fact I am still thanking the powers that be that I can still use the sero plan with my Sprint Mogul ( which for the record is an ok phone but plenty of little complaints ). It is such a good deal it is not even funny.

I mean, add in an extra 40$ a month, plus the price of a new phone. As much as I would love to get my hands on an EVO, for the price difference it better do my laundry too.

Was 30, now 59.99. Twice the price for the same plan.. haha.

Damn. :( Is that with the $10 extra, or is it $70?

I'm tempted to get a TP2 just to save the $720 over the contract...but I don't want an old phone. Blah.
