Damn. :( Is that with the $10 extra, or is it $70?

I'm tempted to get a TP2 just to save the $720 over the contract...but I don't want an old phone. Blah.

Unless he got some other discount it's $70, $60 for EPRP and another $10 for the EVO tax.

If you call Account Services they can give you $10 off a month for the life of the contract. That is really the only discount going right now. Sprint is currently doing 15% for law enforcement which makes it pretty much the same price as EPRP so I would just stick with EPRP and take the extra minutes. Only the plan is discounted, the $10 EVO is still full price.

I'd actually recommend the opposite. You get fewer minutes but you get two major benefits. First, you can buy the phone from a store rather than having to buy online through Sprint and rely on a mail-in rebate. That may not apply if you're renewing a plan before you're out of contract, but it will at least save you time and money when you initially sign up. Second, if you have a higher base rate, you'll be a Sprint Premiere Member, meaning you'll get more frequent phone upgrades. What I've heard is you have to be on a $70/mo plan or higher to be a premiere member, and that's before discounts. So the $60/mo EPRP doesn't qualify, but the $70/mo Everything Data with a discount does.

If you NEED those extra 50 minutes you're probably on the wrong plan to begin with too.

I very rarely go over my 500min anyway...and with the everything data plan including unlimited any carrier mobile to mobile, I'd have nothing to worry about.

I'm just having a really hard time paying over twice what I do monthly just for a new phone..

I was the first Evo activation at my local Best Buy this morning. Took about 30-35 minutes. They ran into a small snag activating the hot spot feature but was quickly resolved after calling Sprint. Decided to add my contacts manually to clean out the cruft. Just finished adding my personal and work email account with no problems. Will post more a little later.

I want to know two things (if possible):
Flaws in the device as a phone? (i.e, does it have the same reception issues that droid incredible has) ?

Battery life if g3/g4/wifi are off (i.e, if it is being used as a phone) ? (i.e, can i go 2 or 3 days without charging)
