You use your phone as a usb drive but you're arguing against being able to put more storage in it?

You are confused. Data does not stay permanently on a flash drive. It's a modern day floppy. At least for me...

Yes the DNA does not need bigger storage because it is like a floppy drive. You guys are horrible.

The evil part is the carriers using their exclusive access to phones to limit storage. There should be a 64GB option for $100 more so the manufacturer makes ridiculous margins and people who need more can still get this awesome phone. Win win for everyone it would seem. The carriers get exclusive access to hardware and then provide an inferior product to somehow increase data usage or something. I'm using an 8GB nexus 4 so I don't have a problem with storage, it's with the system that lets this happen.

I was talking about my phone. That is how I use it and I have a 32GB SD card in there. Fact is, I find that not too useful because the Android OS can not handle a file size larger than 4GB. I'll just have to get a 64GB or 128GB USB flash drive and format it to NTFS.

Yeah sorry, you were saying that it is not necessary to stream everything. Android shouldn't have a file size limit now unless your SD card is FAT32 formatted. The internal storage doesn't have a limit at least... Except on the DNA where there isn't room to put anything larger than probably 10GB. :)

Are you sure that there is no limit? Or are you saying that it shouldn't have one? I've once tried copying a 6GB file to the internal storage (which had 8GB available at the time) and it said it could not do that. After searching online, I found out it was a limitation of the OS. If I can take out my SD card and reformat it to something like NTFS then it would be great.

I've put 5GB 720p rips on my TF101 internal storage over USB. I dunno.

I honestly don't believe that there's some big conspiracy theory where the goal is to increase data usage. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many other phones with larger storage and/or SD cards.

When HTC/Verizon set out to design this phone, they had some simple goals in mind. Make it retail for $199 (on contract), with a revolutionary screen, and as thin as possible... All to appeal to the majority of buyers. I'm sure they have a lot of data supporting what they wanted. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the $199 price point is indeed the sweet spot for volume sales.

Yes, I agree that I wish there were different versions with different options. More storage, increased battery size, etc. Obviously there would be compromises (size, price, etc.), but that would be up to the end consumer to decide which version fits their wants and needs.

Perhaps we will see this come to fruition in the future. But for now, HTC/Verizon has created the phone they set out to.

It would seem that there would be money in charging ridiculous margins to add a bigger flash chip like normal phone companies do. They can get the same chips in 16GB and 64GB sizes, it's just soldering a different one on.
It's not a huge conspiracy, just a conscious decision to not meet the customers needs. They're the only ones selling the hardware so it probably doesn't affect sales much. I'm not sure why they don't make the effort to get that extra profit but the reason is related to the carriers because everyone else is happy to sell 64GB phones.

Maybe it's as simple as only wanting to have one price and one model but they're the only one who can sell this phone so it's still Verizon being sucky.

I couldn't. And this was on the internal storage, not the SD card. I will try to reformat the SD card and put it back into the phone when I get the chance...

I'm confused?

You use your phone to transport data around, seem to want to copy large (>4gb) files to it, use an sdcard in your phone but seem to think having the option to put an SDcard in a phone isnt an advantage to that phone.

Good luck transporting all your >4gb files around in a phone with 8gb of storage and no expansion option.

I never said it was not an advantage. I said data could easily be added and removed with a PC. That is how I use my current phone and it's how I would use this phone if I got it. You are just making shit up as you go along.

Right so after umteen posts of you dicking around you now come to the same conclusion that if the phone had an SDcard slot it would be better.

So what exactly have you been babbling about then?

Seriously, you must learn to compromise.
There is never going to be a phone that has everything you want.
You just have to choose what is more important to you.
If big battery and removable storage is what you want just go with motorola.

edit...
And yes many people use their smartphones as usb sticks to move data.
What is wrong with that?

You're the one that's been bitching and whining over the lack of this and that. Fact is, more is always better. But having built-in storage is ok, especially for people like me who don't add their whole life to a device. I use it as a tool and nothing more. And I'll probably get rid of it in a year or so. I also got an SD card because the SD slot was there. If it wasn't? BFD. I'll live without it. I use this phone to transfer documents since I found all the cloud storage services to be ass-slow. I also use it for email and to make the occasional calls. When I'm at home, I gave it to my son as a source of distraction while I do real work on a computer.

Seems like phones means more to you than that so I'm happy that you're happy. Just don't shit on others for liking something you don't like since their wants may not be as extensive as yours.

yea i've had no issues whatsoever so far. i don't install every app/game out. only a couple here and there. altho i would have liked an sdcard slot, wasn't a big deal to me. the battery for me is awesome as i don't use it nonstop daily. i use it to browse the web/text/email when i'm away from a pc (which isn't that often).

i'm on my 3rd charge of normal (very light use) and it's at over 4 days now with ~29% left.

No...

I just said that it would be better with an SDcard slot and a bigger battery.

Then you went all emo...

Then realised that I was right.

Nah, I said not having either is not the end of the world. You (and others) complaining about the battery without much thought just makes no sense.

Point is that it's a big phone with a built in battery. They had the opportunity to pull a razr maxx moment rather than just being meh. Not using the advantages of built in batteries whilst using one just seems like a bit of a miss.

Now nobodies saying that it's not a great phone. It is. It just could have been awesome.

It's not like there is empty space in there, a bigger battery would mean going over 1cm thick. It is already 1mm thicker than the RAZR MAXX. If they want to sell more phones then a DNA Max as a second product would have been a good idea.
