I just don't understand your line of reasoning. You bring up one exception and forcefully mold it to apply to the real world as if it was the truth. I've been to Purdue...it was my top pick for an engineering school until I got a better deal elsewhere. So yes, I am familiar with the student body. I did notice Asians (not including Native Americans) comprise a significant portion of the population...but by no means anywhere near the majority. I may have to walk past 15 white person before I come upon an Asian person. But how many white people will I have to walk by to come across a black person? Hispanic? Native American?

So what is wrong with talking to a white person? Are you afraid they are going to bite you or something? Are you too good for white people?

Even with the slightly higher than average Asian population at Purdue, that still doesn't negate Asians holding a 5% figure in the US population. Purdue is an engineering school; many Asians go into engineering; Purdue is just an exception. Go elsewhere in the midwest, that 5% Asian population will be compromised by a nearly 0% in various high schools, neighborhoods, etc. Again, the same apply for the other minority groups. Honestly, did you even think about any of that before firing that counterargument you gave above?

And you obviously never thought about it either. Stop trying to promote racial segregation. If you must be with your own race, you can catch the next flight out of here. Screw these indentifiers: Asian, Black, Hispanic. There should be only one: American. When the census lady came the other day, she could plainly see I was Asian. But to her question I firmly responded that I was American and damn proud of it.

So on average, for about every 71 white people or so, there's only 12 Hispanics, 12 blacks, 5 Asians, and 1 Native American. And then the majority wonder why there isn't a club for them.

I wonder also. If every other race has their own, I don't see why whites can't have theirs? Numbers shouldn't decide who can start a club or not. If it did, then all these popular religious clubs shouldn't be allowed to exist.

How come there can be BET, and Black History Clubs, Spanish clubs, Asian Clubs in schools and on TV around the world, but when a couple of Caucasian students want to start their own its racist. That's ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous. We have history too, we all have backgrounds.

I don't think its these students who are the racist ones, its the people who find a problem with it who are racist.

Yes, but as someone pointed out earlier, an Asian club is going to be made up of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Cambodians, etc. And if you know your world cultures, you'd know that these people are as different from one another as the Irish are from the Germans. But I guess to us whites, "they all look the same."

So again, why is it that you can have an Asian club, made up of completely different people, but no White club?

My freshman year in college i used to visit the international house from time to time because they had a really nice piano that was supposedly open to all students. Everytime i was there everyone would just stare at me and nobody would have a conversation with me, it was rather awkward especialy since the whole reason they put up a building with nice things in it just for international students was to promote awareness of the different cultures there. The public apperance was that i was to be a place where you could socialize with international students and learn about where they are coming from and give them a means to share thier heritage. In the end it was an asian club where they would make you feel less than welcome for being in "thier" building.

We also had a black cultural center that was supposed to be the same thing. Basicly they advertised good tutoring facilities for the whole school and a small specialty library that was open to anyone. Other than that it was the same general idea as the international house. It looked good on paper, but if you were white and tried to get tutoring they would never have anyone available. Again it was a very unconfortable place to be if you were white. The biggest annoyance here was that they had a pretty nice place but then a year later the university tore down a parking lot to build them a bigger glass building that was closer to the center of campus.

Is it right to reward someone for being a minority? I mean do african americans need special treatment? Granted i went to a redneck high school and we only had maby 10% african american students but that 10% wouldn't associate with anyone who wasn't in thier racial group. Below are the current minority scholarships from my current college. Cost of attendance is about 2200 a semester after books. Its interesting that a "distinguished" african american is considered to have a 2.5 college gpa and a 26 act score. I'm 100% sure that i'm not the only one whos posted stuff like this before though.

Hate me if you want but in the U.S. i have a right to have my own opinion about it.

Not a new idea. There was some talk of staring a white club at my HS a few years ago. Naturally it didn't get anywhere, even though we were a minority - at most there were 20% whites. Probably less. The place was basicly little Tehran.

1. Every group faces some level of discrimination

2. Whites are the only group where it is legal to discriminate against in this day in age.

I have no problem with there being a caucasian club..but I am just wondering what they would do in the club?

Learn about the history of caucasians? Sorry...but isn't that what history class is for?

I mean...with the asian club or international club we had in high school, it was to allow students of all different nationalities who were interested in learning more about a different culture and it's traditions/foods/etc.

But with a white club, aren't we exposed to that stuff every day?

I know someone who was trying to start an European Caucasian club in HS. Of course, the nick name was going to be Eur Cauc. It got shot down pretty fast by the administration.

I don't think we had ethnic clubs in my highschool. In my undergrad, the ethnic clubs didn't only cater to that minority. They had members of other races in them. I think some of the ethnic clubs even had white officers
