HR 1 urgently needs to pass through filibuster

Remember what goes around comes around. Democrats started nuclear war on filibuster and Republicans continue it. If Democrats cross this line, regardless how far, Republicans will push it further. Sure Democrats can get their agenda through but what will they say when it's Republicans in control?

The Senate did function before the 1970s. The horrors of pre-modern filibuster life are intentionally oversold by the people who benefit from it remaining.

Cannot stress enough how important it is for the Democrats to level the electoral playing field. The right is already justifying a further turn into fascism as a done deal.

As always it's a 3 step process:

1) We're not doing that.
2) We're only doing that because the Democrats made us <----YOU ARE HERE
3) Doing that is good.

I do not see HR1 getting passed. I am not seeing Democrats changing filibuster rule and Republicans know it.
Woe be unto Democrats if they don't pass this. Can you imagine Jim Crow 2 being enacted on their watch? Not including black people were key into Biden being elected.

I think Biden is keenly aware

Yes Senate did function and it even function in the 90's but today country is extremely divided. It's like having 2 country's in one. You take away filibuster and each side will be undoing other side laws as soon as they get the power.

Because be it in 4 or 8 or 12 years from now, Republicans will regain control of Congress/Senate/White House and without filibuster stopping their agenda will be extremely hard.

Honestly I am very cool with this idea.
They didn’t have the votes to kill ACA but let’s assume they did.
Whole bunch of Democrats take the floor talk about importance of healthcare (see 2018 elections about that) eventually pass out or leave to floor to pee.
Republicans repeal ACA then everyone’s medical bills go up or COVID 2.0 hits or whatever.
They would then either be forced to do something or be held accountable. Doing something might actually last because more than one party would be involved.
I am all for majority rule, I like the idea of a talking filibuster, I like the accountability it brings as opposed to what we have now which is some nameless person sent an email to the clerk last night this legislation is now on hold. If sending that email turns out to be a shitty call they all stand there like “who me? I didn’t do anything”
If it is a bad idea stand the fuck up and explain why it is a bad idea, have your words go on the record so we can all see them, if your only goal is to slow every piece of legislation down and grind government to a standstill, rest up fucker because you are going to be standing and talking and getting very little sleep.

We functionally have that outcome already because the executive branch is now so powerful as the Senate can pass so few laws. We didn't stop that from happening, we just changed where it happens.

This guy...thinks that when the GOP gets the Senate back if they have 51 votes to pass something but can't because of the filibuster they won't immediately do away with the filibuster.
They will not if Democrats don't do it first. It's one tradition that Republicans still respect. Like I said before, Democrats started the nuclear war and Republicans continued it.

Someone should challenge Georgia's new voting law as unconstitutional. Against the law to give someone water. I live here and thought this was a state in the USA, not some section of hell. Maybe it's both.

The GOP started it with their unprecedented obstruction of Obama's judicial appointments. If you think Reid sitting on his hands would have resulted in anything other than McConnell getting to ram through even more circuit court appointments during Trump's administration, you're living in a dream world.

That's petty af but the part that allows the state legislature to remove local electors is straight up fascist bullshit!

They wont be. Not in its current form. The idea is to kill what has come the GQP, peddlers of Russian disinformation, party of fascism, neo nazis, proud boys, alternate realities, conspiracy theories, the biggest scam in multiple decades and massive MASSIVE *MASSIVE* voter suppression in order to establish minority rule and a mafia state modeled after Putins Russia. THAT is what has to die. That party. You want to negotiate with that? "What if/when they get back in power...." - Then its game over and no more democracy and free will for you willie boy.

Exactly. This is the end game. After that we will actually be fighting Fascism.

Everyone can vote the same way. The state has the right to decide on how the election is held. This is futile lawsuit which will go nowhere just like all Trump lawsuit went nowhere as there was no case.

Are you ever correct about anything? I mean, none of what you said is true either by law or by what has actually happened.
