Sorry to admit but I fell for it...after so many days of hunting for this touchpad, my onSale cancelation tipped me over. Its so unfair to mislead people with things like this.

Even though the title had wholesale list in it, I didn't know what it meant. Plus, he had a picture of the product, listed it at the familiar price of $99 and $149.

Anywaysw, I opened a dispute on paypal for a claim of misleading products, took screenshots. Called up my credit card company. Pretty sure I will win the dispute, but I don't want anyone else to fall for it. I know most people here probably have better judgement, but I'm just so tired I fell for it, so just wanted to warn everyone about this particular classified ad on ebay. This is borderine scamming.

Nothing fron onSale, but I assume mine is canceled and the charge will vanish.

I got the web update to work but I had to keep pressing "Download Now" due to the frequent disconnects. It is unpacking right now. Once I get this installed I am going to follow this guide:

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/mobile-news/how-to-improve-the-performance-of-your-new-hp-touchpad/3866

It will fail during unpacking too, mine did several times. Check the link in my post a few back, they have some info on how to get around the update frustration.

This isn't working either. WebOS doctor doesn't see the device. This is REALLY annoying. I tried your instructions earlier and the minute you plug the USB cable in it pwrs on.

Yeah, mine did that too, I had to actually shut the device down (not just put it to sleep with the button on the side of the device, but look for an option to shutdown in the device info menu I believe), then do the rest...plug in the USB cable, and then power it back on while holding the volume up button in. You will know if it is in recovery mode because it will go directly to a big USB symbol without prompting to use it as a usb device. Then your computer should recognize it correctly, and the next button will become available in the webos dr.

I don't think this would be as annoying if there weren't so many people trying to update simultaneously, at least I hope not...otherwise this thing really is a POS worth only $99 😀

Thanks -- I think it is working now.

np, that site goes on with more tweaks and patches too, it might be worth checking out. I didn't get that far last night so I'm not sure how much better it performs after, but it supposedly makes it run much snappier.

I bought an open box touchstone charger this morning. Not sure why I agreed to it for only like $5 in savings. I should have just gotten a NIB one. Hopefully there aren't any problems with it when I try it out tonight, since I think it was a non-returnable item.

One thing I've noticed is that the orientation rotation is way too sensitive. I locked rotation for now but hopefully you can adjust sensitivity somewhere.

I don't know specifically about an open box item, but a new Touchstone from BB is returnable. I made sure to ask when I bought one.

The beauty of ebay. I just watched a 16gb sell for $316 + $16 shipping. There were 71 bids on this one, which is much higher than others. The guy that won had 0 feedback, the listing also doesn't show up in the completed auction area.

You know for under $200 a 16gb Touchpad is still an absolute steal... And plenty Of those listings on eBay.

I've been watching the TouchPad ebay auctions for a while now, and the lowest I've seen one sell for recently was $260 - the rest sell for over $300 (for the 16GB model).
