That would be "smart" but I can' imagine there wouldn't be a litigation shit storm after. Now if the... COMMUNITY were to somehow get a version that was hackable to load on it....

The litigation side I didn't think of...but what would be the claim? MS can make software to run on hardware that's fine. They can, if they like, write drivers to support hardware of any type...they can also choose to make their SW free under certain conditions...Who would sue? HP? on what grounds? That MS is making their OS compatible with HP hardware?

You just got me thinking...anyway...it's off topic...sorry.

That sucks, it worked this morning (using "open market") but I was worried the gov't would hunt me down if I went through with it 😀.

Oh well, they probably purposely broke it to stop people from ordering them.
 
So is there no chance of me snagging one of these touchpads? 🙁

I'm thinking of going around to staples/bestbuy etc. to see if any of those stores got any shipments

HP is manufacturing up to 100K more, but honestly, most are probably going to backorders (as in the deal onSale negotiated with HP). I lucked out and got one from Best Buy and am glad I did.

Plus supposedly this week all of the HP employees get a crack at them, I think yesterday was the day for that.

I just keep randomly hitting websites hoping for the best each day. Office Max and Office Depot supposedly had their links up for a few minutes until SD posted them, probably selling off orders that got returned. Last week QVC had a bundle, the case, the charger and the touchpad for $200, that sold out in 30 minutes. Fatwallet posted that one.

So it is possible, you just need to get lucky. I saw one on amazon the other day for $199, so hopefully more people will get desperate and start selling them cheaper on ebay and amazon, now that the initial mayhem has subsided.

I hope to read some day soon that Android's ICS will port to the TP. I'm also hoping for MS's Windows 8 for tablets and hp to oust Apotheker and rehire/undo the steps their current CEO had started concerning webOS.

Please, no comments about the Easter Bunny.
 
Apotheker is an idiot. HP would have been better served keeping the WebOS team in place while trying to sell that business. Now they are going to do layoffs, then you are never going to put humpty dumpty back together.
 
I hope it is, I think this whole Touchpad business has shown them they do have a product people want, just wasn't at the price point they originally tried to aim for. Go for 249 and 299 and take a small loss to gobble up that marketshare and people will keep getting those Touchpads.

They advertised Touchpads as part of their "US grand opening sale" and I tell you, I was on their site when the sale went live and Touchpads were already sold out. I doubt they had any or if they did, very many at all.

That's what the people on SD have been saying for the past couple of weeks. Employees only on wednesday, whatever is left over will go to filling previous HP orders from the fire sale, then they will supposedly go to the email notifications.

It's anybodies guess, I haven't been following the tweets.
