There is a difference between a "cheap LCD" and a LCD on clearance.
If you go to the HP website and other places the tv is as high as $1499
I EXPECT ANY lcd to do 1280x720 from a PC, and definitely expect it to at least have fair to good looking digital TV picture.
Your derogatory commentary is not appreciated nor needed. Bitter much?
Seems like informing the forum viewers of issues with a product should not result in commentary such as yours.

For under $700 bucks.

Did you try calibrating the TV ?

My Sharp looked like crap until I calibrated it.

TV's clearance price is $749+tax. 10 or 12% off is YMMV and cannot be done when doing a store transfer with manual price over-ride like I did.
And the issues I referred to are not anything that can be resolved through any sort of calibration.

I don't know why you quoted me then changed my words. It WASN'T $749 AT MY STORE. It was $749 at another store and I said I did a store transfer. It was $949 in the system AT MY STORE.
My re-stating of the clearance price was in response to isekii's comment of "For under $700 bucks." - which the TVs I bought were not.

In Indiana, I got the TV for $749 before discounts and then had a 12% coupon to go with it as well as purchasing a PS3 and Surround Sound to make the overall total around $1500 for the TV, Surround Sound and HP 42". TV cost was $625 after all discounts applied (HD advantage and Surround Sound, Coupon, etc.)

I think the TV is fine in terms of overall quality. It's not perfect, but I enjoy it so far. Esp. for the cost.

Does anyone know of any Massachusetts Best Buy's that had the tv for 750? I bought it for $950 at the only place that had one left, and am looking to price match.

ok ok
42" lcd for $749
clearance lcd is clearance

If you paid $950 for this tv you should have looked into other brands for $50 more
You can get a 42" Westinghouse 1080p lcd for $987

Seems like informing the forum viewers of issues with a product should not result in commentary such as yours.

This TV retails for $1499, no one on this forum pays retail for anything unless they are in a bind.
Basically you should count yourself lucky to have been able to get the LCD, I am sure there are a ton of people in the forum that would have been a bit more appreciative of that opportunity.

I think its great you wasted your time and money buying a sh!t panel or one you believe to be lacking in quality and performance.

Considering that YOU are the only member posting "issues" about this LCD and no one else is having these "issues" or complaining about their purchase I would guess it must be a personal preference.

Saying that this LCD is cheap and informing you that when you spend $749 on a 42" 1080p LCD maybe you shouldn't get your hopes up is not derogatory. Because "you" dont appreciate my commentary doesn't mean no one else did again must be personal preference.

cheap?adjective; costing very little; relatively low in price; inexpensive. at a low price; at small cost

"Well I finally set mine up last night. I think it looks great. Does it look like $1500-$2000 Samsung, Sharp, Pioneer --- NO --- but I paid $660 for it.

I should mention that I am using it for GAMING ONLY. I set up a dedicated XBOX 360 system with a driving wheel, chair, 5.1 surround and this LCD and it fits the bill just fine. We will also use it for GHII & GHIII.

wtf are u gonna do with a 42" monitor??? how easy is it capping people in the head in games now? lol

I use a 32" TV as a monitor. Obviously I'm not sitting at the same distance as I would a 19" screen. It's nice not having to sit right in front of the screen. A 42" monitor would be even better :)

I'm not sure the Westinghouse is much better than the HP.

Snagged the last one at the North Dallas Best Buy. Gonna have to drive to the Mesquite branch for the 750 price though.

Once again- Bitter much?
I have no idea where you are coming off being derogatory towards me. Did I hurt you at some point in the past? Did you make this LCD monitor yourself and are offended at a negative review? Because thats how you are acting. Are you in some way jealous because I was able to get the TVs for that price and you could not?
Do you think I am lying?
I came here- told people the issues I had and even told them which store I returned them to so that if anyone wanted to, that didn't have the requirements I did, could go get them.
But apparently you prefer to go on misplaced tyraids. Seemingly to somehow bolster your ego or to just get some sort of sick pleasure from causing strife, and I find it quite disappointing. I think you need to re-evaluate your attitude.
Bottom line is- I am trying to be helpful, and you are not. Which has more merit on this and any forum?

btw "Saying that this LCD is cheap and informing you that when you spend $749 on a 42" 1080p LCD maybe you shouldn't get your hopes up" is NOT what you said, what you said -"cheap lcd is cheap -what did you expect "- was more derogatory than your recent "re-wording". And PLEASE tell me how saying "cheap lcd is cheap -what did you expect " is commentary that ANYONE would have any appreciation for in this thread? (yourself excluded)
And for the record- I am not talking "hopes" here- I am talking reasonable expectations.
I had certain needs and this LCD failed to meet those needs and to what I considered to be a surprisingly disappointing level. I was specific on what the issues were so others would have that information. I still do not see the reason for your initial reply except to be derogatory. And regardless of your recently posted definition of the word "cheap", in an apparent attempt to define your meaning of that words usage(which really is not the issue), it still does nothing to justify your careless making of your entire comment as a whole.(which is the root issue)

Ummm guys I would appreciate it if you did not quote my comments in your battles with other forum members. Like you I simply stated my opinion. The LCD is perfect for what I am using it for ... gaming.

I cannot even comment on how it looks/performs for movies, TV etc as I will most likely never use it for that purpose.

Not trying to start something here but I also don't want to be a part of a fight.

Thanks

Greg

Nice COD4 PICS!!

Makes me wanna go home and play some right now, LOL!

BTW here is what i am using my 42" HP LCD for --- HERE

Things look way better now as I got the seat platform built and a new table for the LCD built this w/e. They aren't finished products but they are in place and working well. Also routed and tied up 90% of the cables so its much neater now.

Well if you live anywhere near Richmond, VA I have roughly a 9' x 12' section leftover you can have.

You know, by the time you buy the LCD, the seat, the wheel, the console, and the hardware to set it all up you could buy a miata and hit some real autocross/track days.

If you already have such things and are just loaded, I hate you :p

Also, so this thing really works well as a PC monitor or not? Still confused on that one. Seems like a smoking deal for what it is.
