if you are going to bother reporting on a failure it might be helpful to post what city/store so people know. Otherwise it just sounds like crass indifference to the probability of this deal.
And the price in the system is the same by phone or instore. And if you are going to break the hot deal cardinal rule of calling you should call a bestbuy at least an hour away from you to check all local stores in your area instead of calling the one you plan to go to.

My bad, yeah that would be heplfull. Checked the Huntsville AL location, and the Murfreesboro TN location. Huntsville's price was $1049, and Murfreesboro didn't have any in stock.

Went to a Houston Best Buy that online stock indicated they had one. Of course they didn't but a couple of other stores had it and the list price was either $1499, $1049 or $890. A BB 80 miles from here had a couple in stock for $749. May drive out there and grab one if I don't see that feedthepig.org commerical again where the guy about to buy the big flat screen HDTV says, "you're right, I don't need it".

:)

Are there any current 10-12% coupons out there? I did a quick search but didn't find any. :(

Haha, good idea. That's what a friend did. He called several, but only one of them offered to look up other stores for him and located one.

Yes, but they won't accept coupon on clearance items. A friend of mine tried (same one as above).

Agreed.

Also if a location NEAR you has one but at a higher price buy it anyway. Go to another store or to a store that has it for LESS and return and rebuy. MANY MANY people have had success with this (myself included). I got lucky on this deal and didn't have a problem since my store had it and it was only $749. They also took my coupon w/o question.

I should mention on the coupon front that it worked just by scanning it. Meaning the system accepted it and there was no override needed. So get them to try it and wouldn't be surprised if it worked.

2 new coupons btw

This deal moved me to HD. Now i've spent more on other things like a ps3, etc just to have stuff to use the tv for.

stay away from component and lower input on this if you can

Well I finally set mine up last night. I think it looks great. Does it look like $1500-$2000 Samsung, Sharp, Pioneer --- NO --- but I paid $660 for it.

I should mention that I am using it for GAMING ONLY. I set up a dedicated XBOX 360 system with a driving wheel, chair, 5.1 surround and this LCD and it fits the bill just fine. We will also use it for GHII & GHIII.

Thanks

Assuming it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping, it will suck for a PC

The 2nd one is expired. However this one works like a champ.

I just returned from my local BB, and the friendly female CSR didn't even blink at the above coupon, or make an issue that the HP TV discussed in this thread was on clearance. Since I purchased it last Sat. she felt generous and rang it up as a price match which made the TV $674.99, plus I received 10% of the difference ($7.50) making the total credit back to my CC $82.50 + tax. Obviously it pays to make a couple of attempts to find a coupon friendly CSR. :D

TV is crap- returned 2 to Fayetteville GA store on Friday night.
Can't Display 1280x720 or 1920x1080 from VGA or DVI-HDMI. got either "NO SIGNAL" or was way screwed overscanned and distorted.
Optimal widescreen res that DOES work is 1360x768 = not HOT.
Cable tuner quality horrible on SD AND digital.
Seems these are only good for MAYBE OTA TV, DVD players and game consoles.

The Best Buy near me had it listed at $1299. Talked the guy down to $900 out the door. I might have a chance at price matching with a store selling it for $750.

Anyway, do you guys think it is worth it for $900? or was it only close to worth it at $750? Should I return or keep at $900?

You could probably get a Sharp Aquos or a Samsung LCD TV for 900ish on sale + coupon at circuit city.

I'd just wait it out.

Did you have to pay a restocking fee? If not, did you avoid it by claiming the TV was faulty?

actually- the tv I "opened" turned out to be USED or DISPLAY model- some dust, what looked like small splats of a sneeze on the screen, no power cable, batteries all ready in the remote= nice try Best Buy. So they got an earful on that one too. I didn't open the second one that still had factory straps around it.
So yes- I got a full refund.

what did you expect

There is a difference between a "cheap LCD" and a LCD on clearance.
If you go to the HP website and other places the tv is as high as $1499
I EXPECT ANY lcd to do 1280x720 from a PC, and definitely expect it to at least have fair to good looking digital TV picture.
