You're flashing it to a GS?
I thought the only reason it was called GS was because Gainward guaranteed the card would overclock to the next speed level. Not all chips can do it. How can flashing it with a new bios cause a virtual guarantee? I'm lost here Thugs, help me out.

1> you get to use ExperTool software
2> GT bios is 1.4v in 3d mode (normal GT is 1.3v)
3> GS bios + ExperTool = faster benchmarks
4> coolbits sux!
5> coolbits is not needed for this mod
6> rivatuner is not needed for this mod
7> hardware level OCing
8> fan speed control
9> much better stability
10> its just freakin kewl 😎

yep, thats exactly why i offer pretested and precompiled flashdisk packages like this.

some of thoe beta bioses can do some really nasty things to your card ~ and you might not even know it :Q (ill know it cause thats why i test them 😉 )

anything for BFG 6800 OC? 16 x1, 6vp, 380,880
nope sorry, i cant test 6800nu bios files on my card, only gt and ultra files.

well.. the only reason I wanted to update bios was to increase gpu voltage to see if I can O/c it little bit more.. (although I know the card is memory limited..)...

would it be easy to extract bios from my videocard and mod it and re install it?

or should I just forget about it?

things to do now...
1)install coolbits2 and see the temp.. (over 60 or not after gaming)
2)apply arctic silver instead of stock.. (http://www.neowin.net/forum/lo...ndex.php/t226326.html)
3)volt mod if possible 🙂

"easy" would depend on your level of knowledge.

you can use my flashdisk (floppy version) to extract your bios, mod it, and then overwrite one of my rom files on the disk so you can reflash it with your modded version.

Though I am looking forward to someone roasting a 6-series from a BIOS flash and getting myself a spiffy new keychain. 😛

ive flashed my card at least 500 times already, ive had zero problems when flashing with known good bios files. (like these)

ive killed my card twice testing "unknown" files. but after blindflashing its alive and well and still kicking 😀

the floppy version of my flashdisk has an option to save your bios in case you need to blind flash it later.
the flashing proceedure is extremely simple.

Did OCing CPus get to boring for you ? 😛

they are comparable.
i did not modify the Gainward GS files in any way.

at the very least i think youll find the full use of ExperTool to be alot more convieniant then coolbits or other driver level software.

for those ppl that for some reason cant even OC their card 1mhz in any direction, this setup should fix that.
