That's funny because I always knew Santa was a bunch of shit, but often wondered about my creation and all this. Am I an idiot for thinking perhaps something created everything because you don't get anything out of nothing? :D

Believe me. I'm very astute and scientific. In terms of Santa I was also very observant. For one, every time I'd sit on his lap the eyes changed color for one dude to the next year after year. Another was the hand writing that looked like my mom's that said from Santa. I also dusted the presents for prints with my various detective kits I got throughout the years. 'Yeah, that's the same hand pattern as my mom's. '

Well I for one used be told repeatedly as a child that Santa was coming and then later was warned to not enter the parents bedroom while they were out shopping because there were Christmas gifts in the closet. Around the age of 10 all of us kids were sat down to be officially told that there was no Santa Claus. Since I'd already figured that part out I was concerned about the intentional lying on their part. Parents kill me when they do this to their kids and then can't figure out where their kids learned to lie at.

Anyway I just wanted to add that this thread and the multitude of responses only serve to confirm the attitudes that people would harbor towards the end of the age.
2 Peter 3:3-4King James Version (KJV)

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Do religious folks experience a serotonin release when someone rejects their message?

You had actual evidence that Santa existed. Granted, it was doctored evidence, but it was evidence nonetheless. You got told a story, there were physical aspects of that story that came true and still you managed to see through the obvious charade. Why can't you do the same with religion? You got told a story, there are physical aspects of that story that not only don't come true, but are definitively shown to be outright lies. And yet you go on believing. That's unbelievable.

I find it very interesting that Christian Fundies depend very heavily upon the "end of days" to stay relevant. That alone should be incredibly revealing to anyone that it's a bunch of BS. Preaching about end times is the oldest trick in the book to gain attention. It's been going on for millennia and now is no different. The funny thing is that they are wrong 100% of the time and people still follow.

Meh, if you really look at what Jesus said and did, you'll see that he was a pretty big dick. Said a few nice things, but overall was a pretty big asshole. I totally understand why they crucified him (not saying they should have crucified him, as you shouldn't crucify anyone and certainly not for being a dick, but I understand why).

Always have to shake my head when biblical verses are thrown down as if they trump rational thought and/or substitute for a rational answer.

That said, believers do find themselves in something of an interesting trap. It stands to reason that their faith is strengthened by affirmation from other believers, and it seems their faith is also strengthened (thanks to these handy biblical quotes) by the doubts of non-believers. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't (or maybe I should say "undamned"). Blind faith is not a subject for rational discourse.

Really all that matters is how much money you make. If you make Jesus happy you will make more money. If Jesus is not happy you will be poor. Because prayer works.

I find all of these different opinions very interesting. And the fact that you all stopped by to visit my thread to leave them of your own free will is fascinating.

Yeah, free will is amazingly strong. If some psycho with free will wants to shoot up a church and kill the priest and worshippers that your god promised to protect from evil, that free will overpowers god and he's reduced to being an impotent spectator, watching from the sidelines, unable to act.

Why is that? How did your god make our free will greater than his will?
