you can eat until you're stuffed, the trick is to only eat 2X a day. Thats what I do. First meal 6 hours after I wake up. next meal a few hours before I go to bed. I took me 6 years to get used to not having breakfast.
that is so horrible for your metabolism

is it? I used to eat 4X a day for a month but it messed up my work out cycles. I can't get a decent workout when I have eaten < 3 hours before or after the workout.

I just started eating less. You get used to it, in fact you will soon realize that you forgot what it feels like to be hungry and full instead of stuffed.

Once at a buffet I ate so much until I puked. After that, I only eat until my stomach feels just right. Never ever going to gorge myself again.

The suggestion to drink lots of water is a good one. Also, whatever you drink with your meals, take a drink between each bite. Don't eat fast. If you are eating with someone, talk to them while you eat. It takes time for your stomach to realize that it's full. Give it the time it needs. I've been working on that, and have lost almost 15 lbs. in the last 2 months without making much change to my routine other than that.

You're welcome, MichaelD, even though I figure I was just a good cover for you and your problems with the other ladies. ;)

Really though, if you were just talking about stuffing, then what I suggested earlier is a good idea since it's a problem of the mind.

However, if you want just more than that, then people have already made the suggestion. God, I drink soooooooooooo much water, it's not even funny. I don't do it on purpose to fill my belly. I just happen to like water and it does the body good. ;) But when you drink so much water, your stomach gets full faster. (Argh! I use the bathroom so much because of this. It's sometimes embarrassing when I go out drink so much water and have to excuse myself more than I would like to.) I tend to drink the water before or after eating (not whilst), though. You will get hungry again quite soon, though. So that isn't enough to use it as something to help yourself with your bad habit. The other thing I tend to do is break a full meal into about four places (imaginary). I eat until I'm satisfied, and it usually means very little for me. You have a bigger stomach I suppose, so what's appropriate for you would be different. Anyway, so a few hours later I get hungry. Then I go back and eat again just as much as earlier.

Lastly, do eat slowly. My family members eat quite fast. I'm the slowest eater, and I so happen to be the leanest. I can't get myself to rush my food. I take my time to chew. Fast eaters don't tend to chew well. And then your stomach can't digest the food well. All of these comes natural for me. It's not something that I plan and consciously do. However, I do make the observations sometimes. For someone trying to start, be observant of your habits and take each step to remedy the situation. Then it will become a part of you and you won't be all worried. And trust me, I can stuff my stomach too, for instance on thanksgiving. But the urge to do that everyday is absent. And I have pretty fast metabolism.

Hope it works for you.

Drink more liquids in your meal. Drink alot of liquids even before the meal. Not as much as during though. Plus, I just eat as much as I want from there, but I keep active. If health is the issue, then inactivity is the main culprit for those problems. I eat a while lot, but I also try to find time to do some sport.

And by liquids, something with a a little nutrition content too - not whiskey, beer, half-and-half.;)
I used to drink whole milk, but I did cut back to 2% - I can substitute a glass of it for a snack. I don't like anything below 2%, and I still prefer whole - the other stuff is too watery.
