? the way the law works is the person in front is allowed to stop as quickly as possible for whatever reason....at least here.
Thinking otherwise you end up in reasons why to go against that would be bad (hmm I think I see an old lady in the road with a walker and Jesus about 30' in front of me, should I stop NOW or not????)....*splat* opps, should of stopped.

Hmm.. so that means if someone is driving a smaller car with good tires and brakes, and behind them is a ford excursion.. and even if the ford excursion is 20ft away, the small car and just STOP ON A DIME, and probably the ford will hit them, but it will be the ford's fault and the smaller car gets $$$? Hmm...
