Engineering technician. I usually take an hour if i go out or 30 mins if at my desk. Dont really have a set amount or even time to take it. As long as we get our time in they dont care too much.

I work 10 hour shifts, and I get 2 20 minute breaks. Not a lunch per say, but that's when I eat.

Compliance officer, USA.

We do not have a set limit of time for lunch. As long as you don't abuse it repeatedly and get your work done, the manager does not care.

As much time as I want. I'm expected to do 40 hours of work per week, no one cares when I do it.

This.

I'm in evil American working for an evil corporation which pays for my wicked awesome evil home. Don't come to America, it's terrible.

Technically 1 hour, but if you go over no one really cares as long as you make it up.

None. I eat when I get the chance, and if something comes up while I'm eating I stop mid-meal and deal with it.

I know most Europeans actually only do around 2 - 4 hours of work for 4 or 5 days a week, the rest of the time is lunch, breaks, and talking. Lucky them.

My colleagues in London are only at work for 7 hours total. 3 hours of work, 1 hour lunch, 3 hours of work, go home.

1 hour for a 9-hour shift. If I am really busy I will just work through it though.

Working lunch.

Boss doesn't care how much we eat throughout the day...as long as we are taking care of our clients.

Working lunch here too. Can't leave the studio for too long in case something happens and we need to report it.

My old job we used to get an hour since we worked a 10.5hr day. Fortunately I worked close enough that I could go home.

I think the "policy" is 30 minutes, but nobody is counting and nobody would care if you were over anyways.

Corporate office, utility.

An hour, but if I'm on a 12 hour shift it's half hour, but my boss is fairly flexible and if I take 45 minutes or even an hour it's fine. By the time I drive home, make something, and drive back it's kind of hard to only take 30 minutes. When I'm on nights or weekend shift I can't leave the building given I'm the only one there and sombody has to tend the phones/network surveillance, so I usually just eat at my desk. The phones arn't really busy on weekends or nights.

I work in IT. I usually take 30 minutes, by choice. I don't need to sit around for an hour just to eat a quick meal. With a 30min break I can go home sooner.

They don't really care how long your breaks are or how many you take, as long as you do your 8 hours/day of work (or at least pretending to work).

It used to be an undocumented 30 minutes but people sued the company claiming they were forced to work off the clock. Now it is a mandatory 30 minutes. No more. No less every single day.

One hour for during a 12 hour shift. Often have to stay on-site and we're the only department that doesn't get a set or guaranteed lunch period. On some days (like today) I could spend nearly all day pigging out if I wanted. On a lot of days I never get the opportunity to eat. Just before I come into work, and after I leave.

Between twelve and two, at least 45 mins, up to the full two hours.
French telecom R&D division.
And eating at your computer doesn't count as a break.
Also, you're not allowed to work more than 11 hours a day.
Timely thread, my boss just went through those numbers at the last team meeting.
