My improvements:
1) The average year is 365.24 days, not 365.
2) Usually either the lunch is paid for or the day is 8.5 hours. Mine is the latter when I work hourly.

My fucking day is 9 hours with about 30 minutes of commute each way = 10 hours (after 1 hour mandatory lunch and driving time)! :|

Not to mention all the bullshit free hours from being salary.

<----- Looking for new job. Might make a few phone calls on Thursday/Friday...my first day off in the last 18 days.

I've been at nearly 10 hours recently when I've been commuting to the next nearest city. Luckilly, that won't last much longer.

I thought you just got a job. I guess a sucky job is slightly better than none?

OPs equation: 9.6/hr
Dr Pizza's: 8.2/hr

Probably closer to Dr Pizza's considering I work 8 1/2 hour days and have 2 10 hour days. But I'm not complaining so far.

lol. That's not legal anywhere in the west though. Easy way around that though is just to pay your employees salary instead of hourly.

Simple.

Incorporate company A in the USA.
Incorporate company B in India.

Bill for product X at company A at S hourly rate.
Contract product X to company B at D hourly rate.

S - D = Profit.

What exactly do you think outsourcing is all about?

can't complain. Also as some IT guys will attest, you don't need to be in the office often. Work remotely most days. :) Supposed to be on my PC at 7:30, wake up at 7:29 and my laptop is right there. :) I actually think most white collar jobs are paid well enough but taxes, direct and indirect, along with all the crooks that pass laws which enable the DMV, gas company, electric comp, water comp to jack up your rates at will. I recently learned something very disturbing about how the water district is controlled and run. It's a huge joke on us working stiffs.

My paycheck says my hourly rate is $31.923077.
I'm salaried but on my paycheck they have what my salary is divided by the normal number of hours for the year so it can make the number come out to be a bit odd.

I would take the ~2080 hours and subtract paid holidays and vacation/sick days/PTO to figure out your true rate for hours worked. For me it'd be: salary / 1896 = not enough. Finally getting a raise though, woohoo.

Never enough!

Then again - took a $6/hr pay cut and increased my commute time by over an hour per day and I'm happier/less stressed than my previous job.
