Call me average, I have about $9,000.00 on two cards right now, and about $7,000.00 balance on a car loan, I am in the process of getting a home equity loan to drastically reduce the interest paid and term of debt, also, the interest on a home equity loan is tax deductible.

If I kept the debt on the cards and paid the minimum I would never pay it off, with the home equity loan the debt will be paid in four years.

$0. I would rather have bamboo shoots stuck under my fingernails than pay interest to those bloodsuckers.

I guess I'm about average. I cut up my cards, but it's hard climbing out of the hole.

I have more than the average because I took advantage of a crazy credit line I somehow got, as well as its "til paid off" transfer rate, and paid off my car loan by transferring it to the credit card. It saves me about $60 every month.

No more than I can pay in full each month. I wouldn't say that CC debt is the end of the world, because sometimes emergencies come up and you have to charge more than you can pay off in full. That's when you can be glad you didn't already have a balance. You have your full credit limit available and you have many more options.

I went to college with people who were paying interest on pizzas they charged. Now that's dumb, to end up paying $25 for a pizza thanks to interest charges on something you ate three years ago.

Zero. I had almost 5 grand in debt a while back, but got serious and paid it off. Now I pretty much only use an AMEX if I can help it since you have to pay the balance off every month. My Mastercard is pretty much just for emergencies or places that don't take AMEX.

It helps not having any CCs, though sometimes it's inconvenient when you want to order something online. The bank my parents have accounts with offers some sort of "check card" thing that's supposedly compatible with Mastercard, but I'm not sure if you get fraud protection (that's what it is, right?) and other features of credit cards with that.
