how much credit card debt do you carry?

i'm just curious about this since I read an article that says the average american carries $8,562 in credit card debt. I found this incredible. People in this country are drowning in debt! I began to recognize this as a real problem when my classmates (smart, science graduate students) began to talk about their cc debt. You would figure they would know about compound interest...

People here are probably not a representative of the average american, but I wonder how much credit card debt you carry (for those comfortable answering this question, and if not, how about "a lot" or "a little")?

I'll start: $0. I pay it off every month in full.

Right now I have about $1500, but that will all be paid off once the statements arrive.

Too much.

However...

It should drop by $2,500 in the next month, which will help.

Plus, by the end of that period all my debt will be interest free.

just over 2000

And that doesn't count around 7000 for truck and 4000 for school loans :(

Try to pay in full every month but will carry a little for lawyers fees for the next while. The sooner you learn that credit card balance = bad, the sooner you'll find yourself on a strong financial footing.

People who are in science are the worst finance people. I am sure they are capable of doing the math, but their minds are just not there.

$0.00. I don't believe in carrying unnecessary debt and neither will you after you run your CC's up into the tens of thousands of dollars.

More than your national average. But then, I don't have any student loan debt, which is a lot better than many of my friends, and I'm paying about 5%APR on the credit cards, which isn't bad.

Nothing. I pay off my balance every month.

Student loans, on the other hand *shudder*

Only a sophomore though so I don't have to worry about those quite yet.
