I'm 21 and was given $0 growing up.
In fact I had three newspaper routes as a kid to contribute to the family because we were poor (serious). I got my first paper route on my seventh birthday...they had a rule you had to be at least 9, but my parents said they would help me do the money collection. I've worked my ass off since 😛

You kids have it easy 😀
 
in 4th grade i could either make my own lunch for school or buy it there. regardless, my dad gave me the $1.50 for lunch every school day. I brought my own lunch all the time cuz school was nasty, and saved up over 100 bucks. After that I got like 6 bucks a week allowance until I was 16 when i think it was like 10 a week. I never worked as a kid, i'm still having fun trying to be a kid at 23.

The fact that you're spoiled beyond anything comprehensible to man. $1000 a month? You make $12,000 a year in ALLOWANCE, and you don't see anything strange about that?

And the fact that you can't grasp that people don't get handouts is incredible. Good luck once mommy and daddy send you off into the real world, if that ever happens.
 
20 years old... my parents still give me about $60/week...

yeah i should'nt be getting money at all... but they just tell me to take it.
Anyways i just stick it in a savings account.. save it for a rainy day or buy something for my parents with it.

they never gave me allowence til i started college.

job brings in like $400/month🙁 damn school and a crappy job hahaha

oh my little sisters in middle school get $5/week

When I was like 7-12 they gave me $5 a week... Then in middle school I just wouldn't spend all my lunch money and use that. I also worked on farms bailing hay and straw and milking cows. Then at 14 I had my first real job, so I never needed any after that.
 
Oh yeah, I forgot about making money at school. I used to sell baseball cards, pogs, toys, mechanical pencils, candy, comic books...etc... at school too. I used to make decent money doing that.
 
The closest thing I had to an allowance was the $1 we all got after little league games so we could buy something at the concession stand.
 
I don't get to spend $1000 a month. Most of it goes to rent/utilities. The rest is for food and the ocational movie/keg party. And the more I think about it the closer it is to $800. And the Yes was meant to be sarcastic but as most people find sarcasm rarey transvers the internet. My best friend never got an allowance though his family is almost as well off as mine. He had to buy his car from his father, I was given one. To this day I still don't drive. He's had jobs since he was 16, something I can say I only had in highschool because it was part of a YAP. His grades are higher than mine and he's a lot more social. If I could do it over I'd like to try it his way.
 
allowance ? heheh vast majority of people here are 20 something 🙂

Im 20 and my "allowance" comes from making crazy server side java apps. Right now its about 400 bucks a week 🙂

I never got allowance, i just borrowed myparent's liquid cash and turned it over.
When i was 15 or 16 i dropped some 2 grand on 5 SGI LCDs (thanks Hot Deals) and turned em over for 6 on ebay. Then me and couple of my friends bought out 10 office max stores worth of those 5 dollar cell phones. We ended up with some 70 boxes. Ebayed for little over a grand.

That's only about ~50k before taxes . Municipal garbagemen make 50k.
