Never received an allowance, started working when I was 14.

I never got allowance until I turned 16 and my parents made me quit a job that I loved (working at Infiniti). Instead of bringing home ~200 a week driving around nice cars, they told me i was going to quit either way and offered me $50 a week, so I said ok fine.

I got $200 a month until I was 12, then it got bumped up to $300/month. Now that I'm 23, I get about $500/month in allowance.

I never got an allowance. Now that I am a parent, I wish my parents would've given me an allowance... I feel there are lessons learned that I missed out on.

My kids, on the other hand, get $.50 x their age, per week.

Back in HS (14-18), got about 20/wk for doing dishes, yard work, etc. my parents made me work for it. in college, about 400/mo with a part time job for spending money (18-22). after college, well, lets just say a lot more than in college 😛 (22+)
