Actually that reminds me. I'm trying to help a friend convert his CD collection of about 800 to MP3. I can't find any easy way to do more then 1 at a time. I mean even if you hook up a CD tower, you're only effectively ripping 1 at a time right as per the limitations of your bus and CPU? I guess multicore helps here but I dunno.

Wow, there are a huge number of pirates in this thread. If i ripped all my CDs (>1,200) that would be only 15 - 16k songs.

It's fun to queue up 30,000 songs and hit randomize.

But dont you end up going 'ah i dont even like this one!' all the time?

If I wanted to hear the same songs over and over again, I'd turn on the radio.

The problem is people forget that ALBUMS still exist, and you take the good with the bad.
Too many people concentrate on SINGLES (thank you Clear Channel) and don't own/have/listen to an entire album. Or.... heaven forbid.... listen to new artists and new albums within a genre or music style they like.

no, like i said, i try not to spend money or waste time on stuff i don't like.
i may not listen to all of it all the time, but like someone else said, sometimes i like queing up everything and hitting random play.

Godo grief, you people are insane? I only just cracked 10,000 a couple days ago.

And while I may not have listened to every song in my collection 800 times, there's something nice about doing Shuffle All and not knowing exactly what's going to come.

Mine.

This includes around 300 duplicates due to soundtracks and greatest hits compilations.
The majority (around 75,000) are techno remixes of Vogue by Madonna.

Over 5,000 and under 10,000. Not sure of the exact number and not worth trying to figure it out.

Tap that sarcasm meter KT! I have very little techno. I liked it as a teen, but not so much now.
You should see my storage unit, half CD cases, half vintage video games!
