How many kWh of electricity do you use per month?

I live in a ~750sqf apartment, and in the August period I used 397. Kind of suprising to me since I've been pretty good about turning off lights and unplugging stuff I'm not using. I even got rid of my cable tv so have been watching a lot less TV and no longer have the cable box drawing power 24/7. Somehow I still used about 5% more power than the same period a year ago.

I also made sure my computer was using sleep/hibernate, and yet the power usage is still the same as previous months when I had cable, left the tv on all the time, and had my comp on 24/7. I'm wondering if a neighbor is somehow using my electricity, or if the basement (directly below me) is using the same power line as my apartment.

It cost me $103.72 btw.
 
You're paying more than $0.25/kWh (after fees)?? Where the hell do you live, that's ridiculous. Northeast or something? Your bill is higher because it was an exceptionally hot August and I assume you ran the AC.

Mine was about 650 kWh for the last period, but I had the AC running pretty hard for probably 2/3 of that period. I won't run at all probably from here on out, so I'm hoping for in the 400s? I'm bad about the computer, but I don't really care.

The bill was around $82 or so, so less than $0.13/kWh - and my area is considered to have HIGH rates.

Damn, must be NYC. I think I used double that and still paid less.
 
I used 489 kwh for August and I live in a 700 sq. ft apt. Total cost = $45.

OP, is your number correct? 397 kwh for $102 is a bit high.
 
I live in an ~650-700sq ft apt, 1Bed/Bath, and the last 4 elec bills have been $90, 100, 105, 107.

It's been a REALLY hot summer here in TX and my AC has been running a lot.

Can't wait for the cooler weather.

I live in an 820 sq ft, 2 bedroom apartment. No idea why the huge peak in May of last year. The really low values for December 2009 and June 2010 is because I was away from home for most of those months.

The wife and I have used an average of 1135 kWh in the 12 monthly bills (that is since we got married, I didn't include data before then since it doesn't reflect current patterns). Our average bill was $89.55 over that year.

I've never seen a power bill that mentions average temperatures. That would be an interesting and useful feature though.

Really? My bill in July I believe mentioned that the average temperature was 4 degrees higher than average (or something), and said that may be the reason for a higher than normal bill.
 
Don't have my bill in front of me, but I think we use just over 500kWh per month, will be less with kids in school during the day though.
 
620kWh last month. My computer, WHS, 58" plasma for primetime viewing hours, and the rest of the miscellaneous things in a 1,117 square foot house.
 
It wasn't too many years ago that the public irrigation district electricity where we live was among the lowest priced in the state...Not any longer.

Meh, mine has it. Gives me my usage for the same billing period last year along with average temp for the current and last year period. I just ass-u-me'd they all did it.

What kind of fucked up power company do you have that raises the rate the more you use?
