That sort of outburst from Trump makes me wonder if there will actually be an election. He's neither a genius, nor, more importantly, does he seem that stable.

It seems tha Trump is frustrated and wants this to all end quickly. Think about it. His biggest accomplishment is the economy and the stock market. The stock market is doing horribly, and the economy will be soon to follow. It's not Trump's fault, but how is reacting is his fault. He's doing a horrible job IMO.

People need security and sustainability, and with the economy shut down by a self inflicted wound - civil unrest is mere days, or weeks away. Unless our government immediately takes action to mitigate the damage they have caused. Sending out the checks, TO EVERYONE, is a good way to start. To bridge the gap until they take their boot heels off our throats. But for every single person they miss through bureaucratic red tape... is another terrorist born. And given Republican opposition to freely handing out cash, and their demand for red tape to slow down the process and reject people.... I expect blood to flow. This can get very ugly, VERY FAST.

This is a gamble with the existence of the United States of America. I pray our leaders don't !@#$ it up. But then we do have Republicans in office.....

"First" evidence of the Republicans being completely ignorant and out of touch, in their handling of this high stakes gamble. Poor individuals get $600 based on prior tax returns, but only if they made enough money to qualify. Red tape and inadequacies galore.

Senate GOP Response to Pandemic, Recession Is Seriously Inadequate
  • Nothing to avert housing crises and increased homelessness.
  • No fiscal relief for states.
  • No help for workers who lose their jobs.
  • Nothing to help more people access health coverage.
  • Nothing to boost food assistance through SNAP (formerly food stamps).

I despise the reduced benefits for low income people. They are the ones who need the help the most.

So what exactly is the plan going to do to help? I don't get the point of handing cash out.

To prove that government is inefficient and socialism doesnt work. Also, totally isnt buying votes because the black guy isn't doing it.

I am glad conservatives never gave that guy credit for bailing out the car industry and turning a profit for the country in the process.

17k+ currently for confirmed cases in the US.
What's the over/under for 25k by the end of the weekend, and will trump actually be human and answer a legitimate question without being a total cvnt?
New cases are almost doubling every day at this point. We might be close to 25k by the end of the day today, let alone the end of the weekend....

By straight numbers or percentage? We've got 5x the population of Italy...

Well, if one is looking at growth rates, it doesn't matter whether it's absolute numbers or percentages. It's only a matter of time.

I mean, with exponential growth 5x the population doesn't mean much - it could be a factor equal to just one week's growth.

Everyone's in the same boat, for the most part. Except for South Korea, where the number of active cases has passed the peak. Everywhere else the slope seems to be much the same shape.

No, by straight numbers only, so far. And on new cases, not on deaths. Italy is showing a 10% death rate based on identified cases, which is awful. I think it's because they have one of the oldest populations in the world, and their healthcare system was seriously ill-equipped for this.

Reality made me change my count to 10000. Sadly, this may still be an under estimation as the NY horror stories are hitting. I think Washington, may have been able to flatten the curve, but its hitting hard here too. Where's the Fn PPE?

For profit health is not equipped to deal with something like this. This is exactly the kind of health problem that is kryptonite to the industry. We need the poll to be revised with a top level of 2 million dead.

Utah rep Ben McAdams (D) has virus, says it's the sickest he's ever felt in his life. Says people really need to start taking this seriously.

I don't disagree. Going from nearly zero testing to some testing to even more testing will uncover many, many more cases.
Be kind, help the elderly, those in need, don't be a donnie.
