wont die. this guy is legit. he has lots of talent and he is very smart. the song is a fad, but its supposed to be. the translation equates to him making fun of korea's new lifestyle. basically american life, where all the girls are glamorous and everyone has turned materialistic. gangnum style!

its basically the korean equivalent to a pop eminem hit. theres a reason why its catching so much international fame, because its actually good.

He's not talking about typical South Koreans at all. He's talking about their elite class. The Korean version of Hollywood.

The guy has actual talent, true wit, and doesn't take himself seriously. He may not gain lasting, large-scale commercial fame here, but he will always have a strong "cult" following, because he's not an empty "leisure" suit. ;)

This is not an exact analogy at all, but I see him as some cross between Weird Al and Frank Zappa.

I wish the guy every success in the world.

Exactly how I see it.

I think his 15 minutes are almost up. Doubt this will be the last of him in his native Korea. But he's doomed to obscurity once the internet finds something new.

Newsflash: Beverly Hills and Hollywood are both completely inside the city of Los Angeles. Gang-Nam is VERY CLOSE to their equivalent.

Yup. It's a part of the city. Like Backbuy in Boston, Soho in NYC, or SoMa in SF.

Gangnam (강남; 江南 Gangnam, "South of the River"), officially the District of Gangnam (강남구; 江南區 Gangnam-gu) is one of the 25 gu (local government districts) which make up the city of Seoul, South Korea. Gangnam is a very affluent area of Seoul, and is by far the wealthiest neighborhood in all of South Korea. As a result, it has become a symbol of both wealth and income inequality in the country.[2]

Neither is Hollywood. They have a fake mayor with fake "keys to the city," but they aren't a city. They're part of Los Angeles.

I never claimed that Hollywood was a city.

My point is that they are referred to as a city anyway. The term "Gang-Nam" exist as a name for the exact same reason. Pointing out that it's not technically a city is just as meaningless, stupid, and pointless. Got it?

Fair enough, doesn't change the fact that gangnam isn't a city. Got it? ;)

XM radio is playing the gangnam style song almost non-stop on channel 2, as far as I know, America has never done this (non-english song in mainstream radio) before...this guy will go far!

How about the song 99 luftballoons by Nena or Du Hast by Rammstein? Funny that both examples i gave are german.

That is great XM is playing it, i should request it at my local radio station.
