Every part of the animal gets used. The only part wasted is what you left on your plate.

I quit eating hotdogs long before this. I prefer meat that at least has some semblance of coming from an animal.

Not that gross, I'm actually hungry for a hotdog now, lol. There's "nasty" stuff in a lot of foods (did you know caesar dressing has anchovies?), as long as it tastes good I don't really care.

I wonder what it would taste like if they'd simply dump whole cows into a giant blender.
Would it just make for an even tastier hot dog?

Cow and blender - sounds like it would make for a good Far Side comic.

Well heck, what's a steak? It's not even a whole muscle, it's a diced up piece of a muscle, possibly with some large bone fragments in it (T-bone steak, anyone?).
Some people freak out when they find out that I have whole mice in my freezer. (My ball python loves them.)
Yes, whole mice. Yet no one freaks out when they see hot dogs, which are, well, you saw it - animal paste. You'd think that whole animals would be a little less weird than pulverized animals.

I wonder what the inside of a Hebrew National plant looks like. Do you really think it's a hell of a lot different?

that was the horror story i was told as a kid

i ate em anyway, but really prefer a bratwurst or something like that, and almost never eat hot dogs.

I knew there's a reason why I never liked hot dogs....and rarely, if ever eat them. If you want to see something really yummy, go to an old time butcher and get some Head Cheese!

It wasn't half as bad as I though... It's like people who eat haggis or tripe, they are just ensuring all parts of the meat is used.

The only annoying part was that retard yelling... and who records tv with a videocamera in this day in age anyways?

You think that's bad? Look into how REAL sausages that use the REAL "casings" are made... much worse. They may taste better, but they're produced in a much nastier fashion.

And you can get kosher 100% beef dogs that are better than that Hormel crap.

The same people who probably take a screenshot using a digital camera: Youtube users.

It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely not something that will keep me away from enjoying a tasty dog. (Though, even when I thought it was squirrel meat, I would still eat them :D)

You'd be surprised how much food the world consumes daily. You'd also be more surprised how much food the world wastes daily as well. It's not like hot dogs are sold one at a time. They're sold in packages of 12. Then think of all the daily sporting events and how much hot dogs are consumed at each stadium.

Wtf? That's not the good How It's Made announcer. The Canadian one has a chick that makes it half way interesting.

That process was not so bad, thank you for sharing. A friend of mine received a personal tour of a small hot dog plant by the owner when he applied for a mechanical engineering position in the late 1980's. My friend stated the meat puree needed to sit for three days to properly ferment. The puree was uncovered for these three days. The owner then started up the mixers and grinders, and my friend distinctly heard the screams of rats as they were mixed in with the puree.

This was a small hot dog manufacturer that I hope is now out of business.

My friend decided not to eat processed meat anymore, only whole cuts of meat that have not been ground down. Anything can be in those processed meats.

Yup, which makes it fun to guess what kind of animals went into the "all beef" hot dogs.

LOL
If you think that was bad you definitely better stay away from the factories where I live.
I live in an area where the main income is from hog and turkey farms, so we have the processing plants to go along with that.
If you ever worked at one you might want to become a vegetarian overnight.
I don't think most people want to know what is in their food.
Hot dogs are minor compared to things like bologna , vienna sausages, treat, potted meat.

My niece was talking about how she loved being a vegetarian and how she was losing weight eating jello for desert.
That was until I informed her of the source of gelatin.

Looks like good eating to me!

I'm surprised that they don't make hot dog patties and other shapes out of that meat slurry... kids would love 'em!
