I have to listen to how overpaid FOH staff are "only" making 2-3x as much money as the hard working dudes in the back who actually make the delicious food I eat.
So we went to dinner Saturday. The wife puts the meal on the visa and I drop a $20 on the table. She says that's too much, picks up the $20 and puts down $15. I give her a look because I wanted to leave $20 so I take $5 out of my wallet and drop it on the $15. She picks up the now $20 (all 5's) tip and puts back down my original $20.
WTH? I'm now out $25. She smiles and asks if I want to play again? So, basically, I was affected out of my $$:$
So tipping is good for your brain.
She is a licensed counselor so she'd just side with herself anyway.Sorry, all matters between you and your wife you'll have to take up with your marriage counselor/therapist (man, there's another profession I'm sure ATOT would do away with too).![]()
As long as it's not a canoe beer.D:THANKS! I wondered where she got the extra $5. I let her buy me a beer with it.![]()

Or a group of them to take the same side.I dont think any women needs to be a licensed counselor to side with themselves. ()![]()
Tipping didn't bother me until I visited Asia. If a server does a shit job they get fired and disgrace their ancestors, here they still expect 20%.
I had guy from 7-11 chase me down the street to return 23 yen I left on the counter. Employees at McDonald's put my luggage beside the counter so I could have more room while I ate. There is nothing more depressing than spending a few weeks in Asia, then flying into Hartsfield-Jackson airport.
Why should the location of where the drinks come from have any bearing on the quality of service? Shouldn't we expect good service from, I don't know, the fucking service industry?I highly doubt you guys are eating at any restaurant where you can actually appreciate good service. Especially when you eat at places where the drinks come from the kitchen![]()
Someone decides to put down a 20% tip for his/her bill. Someone decides to not put any tip down. Someone decides to tip the waitress at some dive restaurant $50,000.
How does this affect you?
Now, if you are a tipped employee, you obviously are affected - but, we are not talking about your job. We are talking about how someone else's tipping (what they do with their money) affects you.
For me: nada, no effect whatsoever - it's their money, let them do what they wish with it.

No. I expect employees to do their best regardless of where they work, not bust a nut in your food because you didn't tip them 20%. Is it some kind of American exceptionalism? Are Americans servers really that much better than everyone else in the first world?Sure. you should. But there is a difference between places. By your logic everything should cost the same as the golden corral. Shouldn't you expect food from a restaurant?
