I didn't experience that at all at least not at that speed (not that I can remember anyway)....that car did once lose it's front driveshaft knuckle and I could have catapulted....it broke the transmission housing when it swung into it.

I also got clocked at 127 in that car and luckily got out of the ticket (I was about 17 at the time maybe 18).

I had some directional michelins on the front, and it still got funny up there. The Challenger went light on me, then right around at that speed. might have been a crappy component though.
It got light in a lane change and continued off the edge of the freeway, got it back up on pavement, went twice around and stayed on freeway. Somehow I survived it, and it stopped backed into a guardrail for a bridge, causing a baseball-sized dent in the lower valance. I had the road to myself, thank goodness, but this stuff happens at that speed. Usually it ends in a single car accident, fatality, no witnesses. I got really lucky.

250mph, Yugo off a long cliff just before impact. I was smushed flat as a pancake at impact, luckily I was able to put my thumb in my mouth and blow myself back up. :p

I got to 130 in my 2k3 Tiburon

Why don't you believe those other's but we are to believe your 130 in a Tiburon?

Anyways....130-150 isn't very fast to me if I am on an expressway.

My driven speeds are 127-135 in a 1966 Mustang GT, constantly at around 120mph or so in my 1988 GT, around 140 in my GTI VR6, speed limiter on my 1996 Saturn SC2 (122mph or something)....

ridden at about 160mph in a custom car (little coupe body and a chevy LT1 from a corvette)

Å

cuz most of those cars are 4 bangers with less than 130 horsepower.......

and yes, my tiburon can hit 130 (the 2k3 and 2k4 now have V6's with 190hp)

drive 100+ mph on the way home from college all the time (4 hours of rural area... 150 cows and 3 car on a 4 hour drive isnt a bad number usually.)

edit: when i was going 133, i hit a rather big hill, or else who knows how fast it could have gone =/ it was ungoverned and still had a good 3k rpm left.

Your speedo must be way off. There is no way an MX-6 could have been at 3500-4000 rpm at 133mph!

Driving

85+ I95 in Florida.

Just going with traffic. I say 85+ because my speedometer only goes to 85, so I don't know how fast I was going.
But I doubt it was over 100. Probably mid 90s.

Passenger

110, on a bridge to boot. I kindly informed the driver that
I would prefer the speed alittle lower, atleast on the bridge.

Maxima has 255hp recently, 190 a few years ago.

100 in a 84 camry

(it had a significantly steep incline i was going down... anyone know the hill descending on north county fair coming south on the... 15 i think it is, in san diego county?)

(since the speedometer registers 110% of actual speed, it was registering 110 when i got to the bottom of the incline)

120 on the back of my dad's 73 BMW motorcycle. opposed twin cylinders = cool. lots of surface area for lots of cooling. :)

edit: i wasnt driving the motorcycle, so it doesnt really count.

so we'll set this as i went 100 under the power of a car i controlled.

147 in my '98 328i bmw. Speed is electronically limited. I added a software mod to impact the air/fuel ratio and eliminated the to speed limiter.

The car starts getting light at about 135. 145 she felt like it was flying. 147 cause I new it could do better than 145 and I didn't want to have to come back and do it all over again!

I was on a back of a motorcycle (SV650) at 100mph...405 Freeway in CA to Santa Monica.

Felt safer than driving a Ford Expedition, but I did think about falling and how utterly impossible it would be to live afterwards.

driver: 85ish on an interstate (flow of traffic)
passenger, same.

edit: wow, all these posts and only PanzerIV, Ohtwell, and FuZion aren't speed freaks...
As far as that goes... it seems to me like a lot of cars have governors on them that limit the speed.. We must have a lot of car-savvy people who know how to disable the governor in this forum... or a lot of people who like to exaggerate. I know my wife's previous car's speedometer went to 160, but had a governor set at 115. (V-8 T-bird) Great acceleration in that car, but still, I managed to stay within flow of traffic speed (her sister figured out the governor)

145 MPHish in a 95 Talon. (Pictured in my sig) I was riding shot gun and my friend was driving.

It was a snowy/rainy night and I only had the car for a few weeks and my friend wanted to top it out.
The damn car has a higher top end speed than a Mustang Cobra.

Well,... at about 145 or so there was a slight turn on the highway and then the back end of the car lifted off the road,....

and we slid for about 100 yards under a barbwire fence. Sparks flying every where. We hit about 3 t-posts,.....

it kinda sucked.

$5500 in damage done to the car.

That's how I got my bodykit.

I topped out at 120 MPH going down hill in a Dodge grand caravan as driver. It was a clear blue day in Montana where the speed limit used to be "Reasonable and Prudent," I determined that 120 MPH was both reasonable and prudent, although I only had my dirver's permit, and not a license yet.
