I'd probably move anywhere except California and NYC. $100K in those places is minimum wage :p

How much do you make now? if it's more than $25K raise and living expenses would be about the same, I would consider moving. If you're happy where you are now, will more money make you happier?

that would be a paycut thus ZERO.

for a conservative country, there's LOTS of hardcore porn on TV at nite

I wouldn't move to FL for a $500k job. I want to live in New England, or Washington. Whatever it took to make that happen is fine. Money isn't a concern.

I seriously considered moving to the arctic at one point for A job. So yeah, you do what you have to.

Depends on where in Florida. If it was near the keys I might even go for less than 100K.

Depends on the situation.

If I had to I would move my entire family to wherever the job is....but I'm not that desperate right now.

I have plenty of 100k+ jobs in NYC (1.5 hour train travel) in my profession......but I value my time with family more than BS money.

Being able to go home for lunch and be home within 5 min is priceless to me.

I would move from New Jersey all the way to Louisiana.... but only because that's where I'm originally from, and I miss my friends and family very very much.

EDIT: I miss the awesome food also.

I did it recently (Portland, OR to New Jersey). It wasn't really a major pay increase after accounting for the cost of living difference but it's been a major quality of life difference. Instead of averaging 65 hour weeks (did 1300 hours of OT in 2011) I'm running more like 45 and I'm not on the road all the time.

So far it's been worth it, it's nice knowing where I'll be vs the inability to plan anything for fear of being told to go catch a plane.

Yea weather, area, local people, taxes/prices etc, and the job/company of couse, would be of far greater concern to me than being away from friends or family.

I went to Orlando once in the summer, so hot. Work outside 50% or more of the time, screw hot places. I love gloomy days. I like the rain too, just not how badly it F's up traffic even with a light sprinkle in L.A.

I'd pretty much go anywhere as long as it would make me happier.

Sounds like a lot of places WOULD make you happier, based on what you posted.

Wouldn't. If I stuck around where I am now and bothered to try, I would be close to $100k within 10 years.

It's sad, but $100k really isn't that much anymore...

Are you going to leave your kids behind, or rip them away from their home and friends?

1. Be honest with yourself; you don't really have friends, and your family would love it if you moved 20 hours away.

2. It rains every goddam day in Florida. It just lasts for an hour, and then it's sunny again.

3. No state income tax.

4. Jacksonville wouldn't be my last choice in Florida... but it wouldn't be my first... or second... or tenth.

5. I spent about 7 years in the Florida Panhandle (the part of Florida that's really Alabama). It's all camouflage, Budweiser, gun racks, rebel flags, and deer strapped across the hood of raised trucks; you'd love it! :D Then, I spent 4 summers in Orlando. It was alright.

Note that I don't live there now... but I'm also in a position where I don't need to chase a $100K job.

Let your kids become beach bums.

At least if in Jacksonville there are decent role models they can look up to - NAS Jacksonville.
