Ok I go to school thinking omg my computer parts are coming today and I get to build my dream computer.
I get home there they are sitting there. I take the box and my moms walks in. She syas "what are you doing with those?" I say "umm, gonna go build my computer". She says "uh no, that computer is for Christmas. I will rap them up and you can open them on Christmas morining. OMFG I am completely pissed right now. Even though she paid I thouhgt I could build it today. WTF?
Okay.. print out my reply and give it to your mom.
When I was small, I had to explain to my mom that is just never makes sense to hold computer parts for Christmas. Once she held a graphics card - graphics card ended up being bad. It took me about three months to get a new one since there are a LOT of RMAs the day after Christmas. On the rare chance that something is bad, it's much easier to RMA it before Dec 10 than before Dec 25 with January 1 following right after..
Also, computer parts, like brand-new cars, have this amazing ability to lose value quickly. The opportunity cost of giving little Jimmy (who is obviously big enough to want to build his own computer) Christmas Surprise seldom beats the opportunity cost of the actual value of the computer parts themselves. Depending on the gear, the computer could be 20% less by Christmas - why make sure not to use it?
Also, it's a horrible feeling to know that half of the rare Christmas vacation is going to be a waste. The computer makes the vacation.
BTW, instead of raising a hissy fit, I'd suggest kissing ass for the next week like you've never kissed ass before. Don't argue. Make her waffles in bed. Let her know how much you love her or how much she would like you to love her.
Side with her when she argues with dad, etc.. If that doesn't work after 7 days, then raise hell like you've never raised hell before.
