Oh man I've been waiting for someone to ask that!
1) I'm going to replace the two 5mm blue leds behind the front "slab" on the case that act as power on lights with some white ones. (By the way, putting new ones on only includes attaching the power lines to the two ends on the leds and shrinkwrapping them separately right? If it's more complicated than that, someone please let me know!)
2) Replace the 5mm blue led hdd activity indicator with a white one as well (frozencpu.com sells pre-wired leds for just such projects; I'll pick up one of them)
3) Get CM's side window (clear, not blue).
4) Get CM's dual white ccfl kit and, if they fit, put one on the bottom along the edge and one on the left on the support beam, so you don't see the source of the light; just the glow lighting up my case's innards. I'm only using CM's because they have a pci thingy that allows me to shut them off for when I want to go to bed
5) get some random cable extenders to help hide wiring (specifically that psu fan rpm wire)
But before I do any of that, I'm going to take your advice and get the Zalman hard drive silencer and see if my case is quiet enough to allow the removal of the aluminum side panel, which probably dampens sound better than acrylic.

Okay, first, with LEDs--you have to have a resistor in series with the LEDs, or you will burn them up. Send me the specs (voltage, max amps, etc) of your LEDs, and I'll let you know what resistor to pick up at Radio Shack (unfortunately the best place to go actually). And for the cable extenders, if you get some heat shrink tubing, you can hide the fact that there are extenders, and it can be used in leiu of cable sleeving and all that, and it will still look damn sexy if you have to show the wires...

Crap. I knew it couldn't be that easy. I have absolutely no idea what the specs are for the leds, but it's ok, I'll just go to plan B: get a Lazer LED bank of 3 white leds, tape it to the hard drive cage right behind the intake grill, and remove the old leds. the light might not be as good, but it's better than nothin. And thanks for the idea of the heatshrink, I'll keep that in mind.

It's not hard, I promise. What LEDs are you getting? (Find them online at Radio Crap, and send me the link). And if you know how to solder, and have sleeving capabilities / materials, you just solder in the resistor, shrink tube it, and then carry on... I've already created a web site showing someone how to put in a switch for a LED. hehehehe. This would be easy too. Just let me know. Remember, mod what you want. Don't settle for "I can do this instead".

You don't need much when you've already got an XP-90 on top of a venice core. Besides, I always count the PSU as an exhaust as well.

Damn, I need a soldering iron too? I know how to solder (hooray for tech ed seven years ago) but I don't have one handy. They're not very expensive right? By the way, thanks a lot for the help.

You can get a soldering iron for $7 at Radio Crap... But you will also need flux and solder... Tell you what. The resistors are only like $1. How were you planning on connecting this to the LED? I can build you the stuff for it. I'm at a pause on my modding anyway until I get the materials for the window....
Oh, and are you putting this on the 5v or 12v line on your molex?

What's flux? Now I'm really confused
. I thought there were just wires that you had to attach (wrap, solder, whatever) to the ends of the led, but I had no idea there was this much to it. I think the leds are on the 5v line, they each have their own molex connector, here's a pic so you can see for yourself herethey're the two molexes on the left of the drive cage with the blue and white wires. Since they're not the standard color, I'm not sure if they're 5v or 7v, but they're definitely not 12v.
well, my cpu temp's idle are 34-36, with the cooler on highest rpm. my video card idles 54-56, same as the old case i used, and my cpu loads at about 45-48, while the video card loads at 68. since i added 2 extra fans (one above the soudn card, the other blowing air up to the top of the case) it is a bit louder but wow, everything is drowned out by the stock cooler on the video card. i love the case, it looks really nice.
it is a bit heavy, and the upside down thing was annoying, but i dfind that it is good for your cpu sicne it has the 2 120 mm fans blowing across it at the coolest part of the case. other than that, i think it is a great case. its your choice.

Yes, but as a complete matter of opinion, it doesn't work near as well. Liquid flux is the way to go. Liquid flux, and silver solder. You can't beat it. This coming from much experience soldering while sitting on top of a Isotta Franchini V8 which is Generator #1A, while the damn thing is running. Soldering goes so much quicker if you have the right stuff....

Hmmm... do you think I could just bring in the leds that I have currently and have someone at radio shack show me how to replace the blue leds with the white ones?

*eg*. Sorry. Um, it's possible, but I've usually just gone in there for the blank stares. But you could always try it too... I could show you how, but you would still need the materials...

I think it's a pretty decent job for my first build, though it doesn't quite stand up to some of the stuff i've seen here. That little purple bar tucked towards the back in the bottom right corner of the pic is a godsend for cable management. Though it's not a high priority (having a "sleeper" case w/o window) I'm still wanting to put that sleeving that came with the DFI mobo to use and clean it up some more.
Only parts that bug me are the bottom backside fan and the HD. That fan's cable is just long enough to reach the mobo plug, but not long enough to tuck anywhere. And though you can't see it, there's an 80mm fan mounted in the bottom 3.5" bay that cools it well, but makes the back end of the HD hang out and mess with the cable layout.
And yes, I know my PDA's digital camera sucks.

the only problem with mine is the orientation. because the mobo is upside down, there is a limit on how neat the cables can look in mine.
