Destroyer USS Fitzgerald Collides with Philippine Merchant Ship
Finally, something I can actually answer.
Its dark out at night, on the ocean.
And the running lights can surprisingly not be enough to see another ship. Sounds crazy but its true.
Also, the lookouts on both ships were probably napping or fucking off. I stood lookout. Its boring.
But if I got caught fucking off, I'd get the shit beat out of me.
So obviously, the Navy needs to bring back ass whoopins.
Also, was the weather bad?
Obama!
Apparently hit by Philippine ship.

maybe the dude held up his green "don't yell at me!" card?
lol--they do that in bootcamp now, right? or, a few years ago, anyway.
They NEVER did that. Its an internet legend that actually gets worse as time goes on.
The card was blue not green, and it never said "Dont Yell at ME!"
It said if you were feeling depressed you could go see the command chaplain for guidance IF you had free time at the end of the day.
For those of you who never went to boot camp: There is no such thing as free time at the end of the day.
The card was meaningless. On top of which, a few ignorant stupid cowardly loudmouthed assholes started spreading the rumor it was a Get Out Of Jail Free card.
And more dummies on top of that believed the lie and kept spreading it.
I managed to find out what happened.
There was a new junior on the civilian ship, controlling it for the first time. He pointed at the ship ahead, and warned they were on a collision course, and he wasn't sure what type of ship it was ?.
So the experienced sailor, pointed to the ship and said "Destroyer"
The inexperienced junior sailor, said "Wow, but if that's your orders, Destroy-Her it is", and he promptly crashed his boat into the Destroyer.
Sorry, my jokes are bad, I guess.
I wonder what Trump's next conversation with Duterte will be like?

This doesn't sound so good:

I originally thought there were no deaths, and it was NOT too bad on the crew. Maybe there is bad news to come, after the relatives have been informed ?
Navy needs more ram.
