I've always pronounced it threed (kinda like Creed). (TH - READ)

It just sounds wierd to pronounce it Thread as in "Thread the needle"

I can't be the only one...

You are the only one. A thread on a forum is the same word as a cloth thread. "Threed" is not a word in any context. It's actually harder to say too, so I don't know why you would continue saying it.

While we're sort of on the subject, how do you guys pronounce Anandtech? I think Anand is Indian since that is an Indian name, so it would really be "Un-undh-tech," but I just say "An-and-tech."

Also, what about "ATOT"? i always says say "Ay-Tee-Oh-Tee," but I wonder if anyone says "A-Tott."

Oh god, please do, and report back often on the reactions you get.

I find it easier to pronounce it the way I do as opposed pronouncing it like "thread the needle".

If I say something like "I just posted in that thread" with the "thread the needle" pronunciation it sounds very akward to me.

You can't just decide to pronounce things however you want. Well you can do that and confuse everyone, but at your own peril!

Tomato typically has two different pronunciations. I'm sure other words do as well.

It can happen. record/noun and record/verb. But in this instance the OP is just being a stubborn idiot.

Correct, many words have the same spelling, but different pronunciations.

What i want to know is how can you know that and yet be too dumb to look in a dictionary for the word "thread"?
