How do you pronounce "thread"?

When talking about website postings or the number of "threads" an application has, how do you pronounce the word?

I've always pronounced it threed (kinda like Creed). (TH - READ)

It just sounds wierd to pronounce it Thread as in "Thread the needle"

I can't be the only one...

Indeed. The two things you listed as examples were both named from the fact that they were string-like (or thread-like). Therefore, you pronounce it the same.
 
It's pronounced like red. Conceptually it is the same as a piece of thread.

Do you pronounce "stack" as steak or steek?
