i was going to name my pc: AP
supposidly for Athlon Proccessor, but it was really the intials of the girl i have a crush on. but i never named it. i just refer to it as "the rig"

No real scheme. At work it's usually after the location or the person (depending on whether they are faculty, staff, or students, and permanent or temporary); at home, I have Ion, Zion, and my PC at work is diabetic. I guess it's after the person. 😉

Mine are Sara, Melinda, Cathy, Alyssa, Nichole, and Sandra.

For work, use the names of cities like Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, Detroit, etc. It's safer.

I use Norse gods for home. At my old job, we were using a bland building-room#-computer so for Phillips Hall room 245 computer 1, it would be: PHILLIPS-245-01. Makes it easy to find an offending computer without consulting the database but has no spice. At my dad's company he uses South Park characters. It just so happened that the old admin and my dad both love South Park. I think that on the IT dept's computers they may even use the icons for the "My Computer" icon.

My server is Ravana, my desktop is Perseus, my laptop is pegasus and my old laptop is Nahema

my sisters computer is CWIN (Computer Without Interesting Name)

I name them after drawn characters (games, comics, cartoons, anime) that kind of represent thier task. It's a virtual bottomless pit of names!

My brother used to be one, and I think that the company used to name them after different kinds of rocks...but not the ugly names, the cool ones 😛
