We must take into account Design's penchant (sp?) for dating "hip, trendy, clubbie, young and ignorant, but in possession GQ-Magazine body" men.

She still has lesions...er...lessons to learn, apparently.

MHO. Stuff it if you don't like it.

Oh..what a load of BS...SORRY, SORRY but do you even KNOW what you are saying ?

So..it's her fault because she is preferrably dating guys which are good looking, hip, trendy with a good body ?????
GOD BEWARE - thats horrible !!!!! What a shame.... she doesn't date bums off the streets or picks out the really ugly people...so..she DESERVES it and needs some lessons ???? argggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

I think the poster was referring more to her apparent habit of dating guys that are pretty but offer little else, then complains when the relationship gets about as deep as a wading pool.

She slapped him first, dickwad, learn to read. In the case of that she does need to learn a lesson that shallow people without morals will hit you back regardless of your gender. It's not a tough thing to understand.

you are right, it was a bad judgement call on her part, and she did hit him first, but even then, with respect to zim's poll, if any of us on ATOT wud be int that situation, and we did wat the guy did, we wud be complete @ssholes just like that guy, so the same point, if you arent in a life threataning situation where you HAVE to hit back to in self defense, i think walking away fromt the situation is the best thing to do,

Yes....i agree with the 'shallow people without morals'...and from what i read (yes, and i *read*) that guy fits that description.
HOWEVER - the one post reads like an accusation that she is doing something wrong in the first place: Dating 'hip, clubbie..[...] guys'
If you turn the logic around - some un-hip, bad looking and unattractive man is *never* expected to have 'bad morals' ?
The logic just doesnt work.

That was never the implication. The implication was that she chose this man (and her last fling) based solely on their looks or image, which as all ATers know, is a bad idea. You wouldn't want to date Lucy Liu if she was a total b!tch, even though she's hot, and a man who put up with an abusive, irresponsible or mean SO because she fit that "mold" would be scorned just the same.

Which still is an attempt to absolve her of blame as well. Last time I checked she wasn't in a wheelchair and could have walked away as well.

That logic doesn't work, but what that poster was saying was that she wasn't exactly picking out altar boys from the local parish...

i am not trying to absolve any blame of her, all i am saying is male or female, you should try to avoid hitting someone, and since the poll was about guys hitting women (i assume :) ) i am saying that the guy in question (or any guy for that matter) shud not have assaulted when he cuold have walked away

that she shud have never started the fight or even hooked up with such a moron is a completely diff issue

Maybe, but who knows if he would have hit her if he wouldn't have been slapped.

This reminds me of a long time ago when I lived in an apartment and a prick use to live next door (in apartment building), and he use to get drunk all the time and beat his girlfriend. Anyway I got sick of hearing it all the time, so I waited for him to leave one day and got in his face (obviously scaring the guy), after kicking his ass a few times he never came back...

Anyway, I think anyone that would hit a female is a very low sick person. If I ever got in a heated argument or something I would hit a brick wall before ever hitting a girl.

Man, thank you ATOT for making me enjoy my work time by laughing it off.
:)
There is nothing better than reading the comments from this thread. FUNNY.

BTW, you shouldn't have hit him, maybe you could've thrown him out of your apartment or whatever?

You definitely committed battery. Course, sorry to hear that you're in such a predicament.

ahhhhhh

arrived safely in Dallas around 2pm today

Hey, you need to come with me to the "Building a Raised Panel Door" class I'm taking in Ft Worth today:D

Pretty sure you'll have to be @ the PD in person, call them to meake sure, but I'd be willing to bet that's the case.

BTW, be very careful, he's gotten over his built in control not to hit you, it could get much much worse. You're the kind of chick that guys ruin their lives over, my sister in law is still hiding from her 1st husband (and for good reason), 20 years later.

WTF, all you guys are saying that a little slap by Dezign = a punch in the chest?! A punch from a guy causes way more harm than a slap, which is relatively harmless. I personally think the only one who committed a crime is the guy. The law is pretty fvcking stupid if it equates a slap to a punch.

Does anyone know what steps I should take to file a police report?

This morning around 6am, my ex punched me in the chest. I never thought he'd hit me. Dropped to the floor, couldn't breathe for a couple seconds, rolled over and threw up.

911 was busy.

After he hit me, he told me he was sorry, that he loved me, that he didn't mean to hit me, and not to call the police.

Long story short, he left when he thought the cops were coming... I had a flight to catch at 7:30am home to Texas, which I missed. A friend drove all the way to West LA from Pasadena (took him well over an hour with traffic), and he took me to the airport. At that point, I just wanted to go home to my family.

I caught the next flight out, arrived safely in Dallas around 2pm today, went to bed, and woke up just now. I do want to file a police report, and get a restraining order.

No man should EVER hit a woman. EVER.

Any advice/info appreciated. Thank you.

1st thing you should do is goto the police station and file a report and the second thing you should do is file a restraining order against that Moron. If he had the nerve to beat you once then then there is nothing stopping that slimy bastard from doing it again!! Please file the restraining order for your own safety.

Well, regardless of my general disagreement with most of your actions, I do have this piece of advice: go see a doctor, and if possible have pictures taken. Pictures of a bruise along with a doctor's report can make or break a case.

I have slight bruising on my chest, but it's already fading. I'll take pictures with my digicam tonight, and will see what I can do about going to a doctor tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, Osorum.

Yes,by all means goto a Doctor and get your injuries documented. The judge will order a restraining order immeadiately.

Same guy. He ended up paying me back the money he owed me after returning from a trip to Japan, and because of that we started speaking again. I had NO intention of EVER getting back together with him. He knew about my 19 y/o b/f (now ex-b/f, lesson learned from that as well), but flipped out this morning because he found the phone number of another guy in my jeans pocked. I'd allowed him to spend the night in the living room to take me to the airport next morning... and when I fell asleep, he went through my trash, my clothes, my room and even my car. When he found the number, he shook me and woke me up, crying and screaming. Asking me why I continued to "hurt myself" by looking for other guys (i.e. anyone who isn't him). Demanding to know why I couldn't just accept the fact we were "meant to be together". He called me a million and one "colorful" names (use your imagination), and when he came inches from my face screaming "YOU'RE A FVCKING WHORE CVNT SLUT FOR TALKING TO ANY OF THESE NIGGAS WHO WILL NEVER LOVE YOU BUT JUST USE YOU FOR YOUR BODY, I HOPE YOU GET AIDS AND DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH", I slapped him (not hard enough to hurt him, but hopefully hard enough to have him regain his senses... he was making something out of nothing). He grabbed my wrists and threw me against the wall, saying "IF YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN I'LL FVCK YOU UP" (keep in mind, he's MUCH bigger and MUCH stronger than I am). I struggled until he let me go, screaming/crying, and told him to leave... to please leave. He threw things around my room (cell phone when I reached for it, etc.), and I tried to push him out the door. That was when he hit me.

He pushed me once in the past, but I never thought he'd hit me with the force he did.

If a guy ever lays a hand on me, he's out. Period.

you sure can pick 'em... consider lesbianism.

In the eye of the law you are just as guilty as him. Not sure of the open vs. closed fist part of Cali Penal Code(not sure if it even exists in your state), but by the simple definition of their idea of battery, you committed a crime too. I'm with tnitsuj, you both should go to jail if you hit him as well. I don't what "look" he had on his eyes. You should have extricated yourself from the situation and called the police if you were scared. You escalated the situation by slapping him. If you have made a report to the police, you better hope he doesn't tell them about you slapping him. If so they will probably arrest you as well. Part of the reason domestic violence happens is because of the escalation of force. You slapped him and he escalated right back! How can you expect the police to arrest him and not you?

add more 'escalations' to that post.

Ok, based on those grounds then why couldn't dezign have walked away instead of slapping him? Yes, the guy was being abusive with words but that's just what they were. Instead dezign escalated the situation by slapping him. It was wrong to hit her but she was also wrong to hit him.

No, actually no one said that, but reading doesn't appear to be your forte.
