Come on we're just kidding around here. It's all good natured.
there are certain things whose existence I'd assume the average heterosexual male is unaware of. if I'm gauging a person, I'd find a way of slipping it into the conversation to ask him.

like, if I mentioned going to a Scissor Sister's concert (not that I would... I mean, maybe, but I'm not that into them) and the guy in question responded with an answer that indicated that he actually knew who the group was, I'd assume that they were likely gay (unless they were a hipster... and some hipsters can be gay, but all hipsters are unattractive and worthy of being tied to an anchor and dropped off the Brooklyn Bridge)

I've got this one friend who always seems to have gay guys hitting on him.

pisses me the hell off because, like, one -- he's not even really attractive, and two -- fuck off and stop cock blocking me.

For what it's worth if I were gay I would totally hit on you.

I'm not a prude, I definitely think sex before a long term relationship is crucial, but the first date? Not for me, old fashioned I guess.

edit: let me clarify, by sex on the first date I'm talking about actual fucking here.

Out of curiosity, what else could it be construed as? I think of the two terms as synonymous.

That makes sense. I'm a heterosexual male and I had no clue what you were talking about.

it's true, I'm a catch :p

dance, techno, etc music. which I'm not hugely into but they make cool music and aren't widely known outside of the gay world (at least in the US, I think they've had a single or two chart in the UK). see also: The Gossip.

Yep, it's pretty ridiculous how hard it is to find someone who doesn't want to fuck on the first date.

Why not just sleep together on the first date? I move as fast as I can and have sex on the second or third date, and my relationships are generally pretty good. Sure most of them ended (most relationships do), but it's not like sex is why they ended. There are lots of women out there who just straight up enjoy sex, but it's not their only hobby. I don't think I'm being unrealistic when I think there are probably gay men out there who love sex and want it on the first date, but are also really nice people who want a real relationship.

So am I ;)

How do they meet? Don't they just have gaydar? :p

I think Gaydar would be a great app to develop on the iPhone and Android.

Damn, who can market this idea to and make a lot of money? (I know the gay hook up one already exists, but one that isn't necessarily overtly a sexploit application).

This is a valid point, there are guys out there like that. You also have to remember that sex can be more dangerous in the gay community, there is a lot more to think about with your potential partners. I am not saying it's unique to the gay community by any means but I think the numbers speak for themselves.

Grindr is most definitely already used for that purpose, even more so since the gay.com implosion which has somehow converted Manhunt into a semi-respectable place to find a date.

Since Jobs won't relax his morals just to generate a profit </sarcasm> I doubt we'll see anything better for a long time.

Though it is hilarious to be in a gay bar and watch all the people on gindr who won't actually fucking talk to other people in the bar...lol.

Same thing as straight people being on facebook all the time even when they are in a real life social setting. Technology has made it even easier for people to behave badly and those with short social attention spans to be distracted.

Grindr just combined that with a hook up app and since most younger urban gay men have the attention span of a squirrel high on speed it compounds.

I was watching Will & Grace and I can't understand how Jack keeps finding all these gay men to pound his ass. Like how do gay men actually find other gay men in real life? For straight people, it's really easy because men can just hit on any random girl and there's over 90% chance she's straight. For gay people, you would need to hit on 10-20 different guys before you even find a gay one, then on top of that he needs to be single, then on top of that he needs to be interested. After all that has cleared, it's like a trillion to one.

Being a flaming heterosexual, I don't know. But if I had to guess, I'd say they hang out in areas that other gay men would tend to frequent (gay bars, the gay area of town). Also there might be some sort of an eye contact test that we aren't really aware of. Then one guy strikes up a casual conversation and uses innocuous "feeler" questions to get a sense of whether or not the other guy might be gay. If the other guy is in fact gay, he'll recognize the underlying language and send out the right signals if he's interested.

Gay people hang out at gay bars, gay parties, gay friends, etc.... therefore it is relatively easy for them to hookup with others that have the same sexual orientation as well as easier to spread disease.

Same question can be said for everything else, just as why doctors seems to have doctors friends, so as lawyers, farmers, sales people, computer nerds, etc...
