Gay guys in high school? There were no gay guys in my high school...or if there were they would never admit it publicly because they'd have been ostracized and probably beaten up as well.

I remember my girlfriend at the time wanted to put a little makeup on me once and, like an idiot, I let her (edit-we're talking a little foundation, not blush or eyeshadow or any of that colored shit women wear on their faces). We went to a party and she mentioned this to a friend of hers and I guess one of the guys there overheard it and started calling me a lovely human and a queer and wanted to beat me up because of it, he was genuinely angry and wanted to fight me...nice tolerant group huh?

If I wanted to fuck someone new every night this year I could easily accomplish that without even trying that hard but I find that side of the gay world absolutely disgusting and deplorable personally.

It's very, very difficult to find a relationship on the other hand. You can't just approach any guy you see that you think is attractive and ask him to get a drink. You can gravitate towards the 'gay' areas of town but the guys you want to meet most likely aren't in those areas. A lot of times, you could never even tell if they were or not. That leaves pretty much the Internet or just dumb luck or straight friends who have gay friends they want to introduce you to, etc. As hard as it is, it's likely as hard to meet the right girl if you're straight it seems. As a gay dude you just have a much smaller sample set depending on the kind of guy you are.

My wife's half brother is gay and he has had a difficult time finding someone to have an ongoing relationship with. And he's a good looking guy too.
