Do you understand the concept of a martyr? Do you even understand the insults you're flinging? Where have I said that people should feel sorry for me? Quote me, liar.

It's in your replies to others basically calling them out for name calling, or rudeness, or whatever in hopes others come and rally for you.

You almost never address the topic at hand when you do this.

Still waiting, liar.

I've already addressed the topic, many times. You just won't stop insulting people and belittling everyone because they're somehow beneath you.

The only one sitting at home with no friends is you. I bet your wife is fucking miserable. Poor woman.

I can, yet I don't. You're just fucking retarded.

Here is the honest truth Nik, if you could so easily afford one and since this is such a major event for you in halting tablets being accepted.

Also since you are so actively attacking this online and of course can easily afford an iPad.

You'd just YouTube a review, if you truly could afford one and it's obvious you are making the time; this would be the best way for you to PROVE to the world their lack of value and functionality and then you'd smash the fucker at the end to show that it's not even worth it for you to return back to the store (since we'd all know that's what you'd do).

But of course, we will never see an iPad video from you nor will you ever own these 'luxury toys' everyone else just takes for granted as appliances.

However; based on you stating this was OT early on, I am sure you are simply trolling and deep down you long for the day for that little extra cash lying around so you too can join the ranks of those that matter.

Still waiting for you to justify your accusations. Quote me.

I won't hold my breath because you and everyone else knows that you're simply full of hot air. The conversation is well over. You're just dragging this into the ground with your typical "I'm better than everyone else" nonsense.

I only insult those that are throwing the mud first there, Chester.

If someone is claiming I am somehow and idiot for buying an iPad, then I will explain how they are letting their financial shortcomings truly alter their mind. People hate having to settle in life, but we all do at some point. I wish I could afford a $1,000,000 home and $100k+ car. Technically based on how other's say they can afford stuff, I could swing the car no sweat....but that isn't really affording it.

But yeah my wife is miserable, she gets to fly back to Japan for three weeks next month with her iPad and MBP, plus a ton of gifts for everyone...she's in real misery (that the exchange rate still sucks so bad).

Oh wait, was that a brag or simply telling the truth?

You are the one continuing it, Nik. I have nothing to prove to you. You aren't that important in my life.

You answered your own question. Apple created a product that is simple enough for the most unsavvy person to use. This is the key to success. There is a huge segment of customers that don't get tech, and a small percentage of smug techies that make fun of them. Apple makes "training wheel" products so everyone can use them, and does a great job of it.

its not "training wheel" products, its half assed, handicapped products.
See below.

I have no problem with those that don't have a need for a device, but when people are so adamant against a device it just smacks of jealousy. There is no denying that the tablet device, esp. the iPad has a major benefit over even an ultraportable laptop in many situations...anyone that can do so is ignorant, trolling, and/or pissed they can't have one too.

really? What beenfits might these be?
So...you are willing to pay a premium price for a device which...

Is substandard to a portable dvd/br/media player? Plays media in a 4:3 1026x768 132DPI, instead of a 10inch 1080P 267DPI portable blu ray player. Whichalso does, youtube, netflix, etc etc.

Is substandard to a kindle/nook e-reader? Kindles & Nooks both use the E-ink technology making it easier on the eyes to e-read. Also, Kindles and Nooks coem with free 3G! ipad? Nope and Nope!

Is substandard to a laptop? I-pads are Non-multitasking devices without the power to use full applications, such as word processors, spreadsheets, and photo editors.

Is substandard as a web browser? No Flash = >50% of the web is inaccessible.

Is substandard as a camera? a 1MP still picture camera. Really? Really?

Is equal to an ipod touch, with 4x larger price. Is substandard to an Iphone (doesnt make calls) and still costs more. so 4x the price for a larger lcd screen? Wait, how much are 24inch monitors again?

Is substandard as a paperweight? so you use it once every 3-4 weeks because you have a desktop? and otherwise just holds your desk from jumping up and walking away... it only weights 1.5 pounds... Its not even a good paperweight.

So lets review... a ultra-portable device, which does a bunch of things, but all of them piss poorly. Not even close to the actual devices its trying to mimic, and costs more than each of the originals itself. whats this major benefit you speak of? Since ultraportable is your concern, it must be an ultra-portable empty wallet.

Anyone with an extra $500 and life would have an iPad just out of the convenience it brings. At my old job I was on-call every three weeks. Even a compact laptop was a PITA. I didn't use it everyday since I have a desktop so battery life and the like was always iffy, not to mention having to carry it to places like dog park, restaurants (many of which do not allow for these kinds of things at the table), theatres, etc.

It's funny these same tools above were probably the ones insisting on having both a laptop and desktop not to long ago...yet now a laptop and a tablet is a waste because they overlap?!?!

anyone with $500 and a life, isnt going to buy a whatchamahoosit-toaster-blender-waffleiron-coffeepot with built in weatherstation and pez despenser that does all of the above but in a piss poor way. And for the same reason neither would they buy an ipad.

What device is this? 10" 1080p? No way.

Read that Kindle or Nook in the dark. How's that without a backlight?

Funny how word processors, spreadsheets, and photo editors are all on the iPad.

Is substandard as a web browser? No Flash = >50% of the web is inaccessible.

Flash video = Skyfire browser. Flash games don't work well in a touch based interface. So >50% is a real overexaggeration.

It's the camera that you have that's the one you use. Yeah it sucks, but it's marketed as a FaceTime camera, so for video chats it's fine.

Is equal to an ipod touch, with 4x larger price. Is substandard to an Iphone (doesnt make calls) and still costs more. so 4x the price for a larger lcd screen? Wait, how much are 24inch monitors again?

You can install Skype on it and make as many calls as you want.

Why are you so broke if you know all these 'wealthy people'? You aren't counting people that are above you in your office are you, you can't be counting them as your friends...right?

For one I am by far not the most wealthy person here. I'd consider myself middle class and I am sure those scraping by would say I had to be upper class. I am not here to brag about my money and that's why I know when someone like you sees it that way I know you are full of shit.

I have pretty much reported the events of my life here. Good and bad since 1999. I have challenged anyone to prove me wrong on anything major. Best so far has been asshat grabbing a typo or something out of context.

The problem is people then to describe things in other threads like how they are living at home, shacked up with a dozen of stoners, have car problems due to it being a POS beater....then try to make claims that they buy $500 video cards every 3-6 months, expensive luxury items, etc....yet when an Apple thread pops up immediately a $500 device is insanely overpriced and expensive and god forbid a tip or wage thread pops up. These people want to see everyone as impoverished as themselves and struggling.

lol, you're such a tool. 500 for an iPad is expensive because it doesn't do jack shit I can't already do on other devices that are in my condo. why would i spend 500 dollars on something i don't need? in fact if you have a laptop + a smartphone made in the last 2 years, buying an iPad is just because you want a toy. no one needs one, period. sure they are nice and they can do somethings pretty well, but 500-800 bucks? please, i'll go pick up a nook for 250 if I want a coffee table computer.

many people buy things they don't "need". that is a pretty stupid reason to talk about someone buying something.

i own a PS3 and Xbox 360. I also own a large HDTV but I game on a 23" monitor sitting on my coffee table.

i don't "need" 2 consoles, and I don't "need" a separate gaming monitor.

if you spend money ONLY on things you "need" then shit you must have millions saved up in the bank.

then we're talking about TWO different things here. if we're arguing if it's a GOOD purchase, well it's a non-necessity so that answer is now, it's just a shiny bauble of a toy people enjoy. Nothing wrong with that at all, just don't pretend it's otherwise. It has some neat features and does somethings well, but it has overlap everywhere.

So, I can do what the iPad does if I spend $1k+ and have a backpack to carry all of these items and additional batteries. Sounds good....

Did you own a smart phone and a computer before buying an iPad? If your answer is yes, why did you spend 500+ on an iPad and extra carrying case and all that stuff, when you could already carry the items required to do everything the iPad does and more?

Before the iPad, every company's tablet line failed. noone wanted to buy it.

then comes the iPad and it's killing the laptop market, especially netbooks. Acer's market share dropped 15%.

How did Apple succeed when everyone else failed?!

Because the Ipod/Apple Sheeple will buy anything that Apple makes?

Screw Apple.. crappy trendy products that are overpriced and underspeced.

who gives a shit?

if someone has $500 to blow on a "toy" then more power to them. who are you to decide what others can do with their money?

did you own a Kia? if not then you are stupid, because they do exactly what every other car does!! it gets you from point A to point B!!! (see what i did there?)

it just amazes me that on a forum full of people who have $300+ graphics cards in their $2000 PC's that people are bitching about others spending $500 on an item they "dont need"

I agree with you, more power to them. Don't argue it was a "smart" or "good" purchase though, just because you wanted to spend 500 dollars on a toy.

And if you want to get on me about my vehicle ownership, I own a Dodge Ram that I had bought because I needed to carry 150-200lbs of tools around to different job sites. I no longer do that job, so I am getting rid of my truck and getting a more gas efficient vehicle that I don't need to haul a ton of shit in. So derpa de derpa.

No problem with people buying toys, toys are awesome, but they're toys. Not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Form factor. Instant on, 1.3lb, thin with 10" screen, 10 hours of battery life and replaces just about everything I use my laptop for and what it can't do, I can remote to my desktop at home. I'd rather carry something the size of notepad than a laptop any day.
