who gives a shit?

if someone has $500 to blow on a "toy" then more power to them. who are you to decide what others can do with their money?

did you own a Kia? if not then you are stupid, because they do exactly what every other car does!! it gets you from point A to point B!!! (see what i did there?)

it just amazes me that on a forum full of people who have $300+ graphics cards in their $2000 PC's that people are bitching about others spending $500 on an item they "dont need"

The device blows.. it's locked down cant do anything with it.. the apps are lame and a netbook computer or a phone does everything an Ipad can do and more.

I will buy a Dual Core Android tablet if I need/want one.
I would never ever buy an Apple after dealing with them on a corporate level I refuse to give them 1 cent.

Overpriced, locked down, Disposable computers, and devices, poor support. ("Genius Bar" even for corporate support really?) and more..that's what you get when you buy Apple.

Form factor. Instant on, 1.3lb, thin with 10" screen, 10 hours of battery life and replaces just about everything I use my laptop for and what it can't do, I can remote to my desktop at home. I'd rather carry something the size of notepad than a laptop any day.

you don't have a keyboard, you need an accessory to get anywhere near your productivity on even a netbook. so you replaced productivity for portability? that's chill. not for me, but whatever. but you COULD HAVE done the SAME job without it right? My whole point is tablets aren't necessities. ANY TABLET. This has NOTHING to do with just the iPad, the iPad just happens to be the most popular tablet.

The only thing I see even close to the right price range for these COFFEE TABLE COMPUTERS, is the Nook Color @ 250(even this is kind of pushing it). That's all these things are really good for at the moment and 500+ dollars is absolutely asinine for their function.

What productivity do you use your laptop for? Typing on a tablet in landscape mode isn't difficult. I can also draw graphs/notes using my finger as a stylus. I can also use it as remote. The more I think about it, once I get my own tablet(currently use my gf's). My laptop will be regulated to webcam duty only b/c I hate having to carry it around the house or taking it outdoors and deal with a power supply.

Thanks for helping me clarify things.

An Apple thread that devolved into a flame fest? Shocking.

its mostly just one poster who refuses to admit that anyone in the world could have a different view than him. People like that generally have very low self confidence and even lower intelligence. I kind of feel sorry for people like that.

Yeah, I don't get even when given examples, how people still can't accept that people have a different opinion or found a use for a product.

For the consumer market it's *NOT* a productivity device. Never was intended to be. It's an entertainment/content viewing device. I can check the weather in about three seconds with it. Check facebook updates in the same. TV listings, yep. Same thing with looking at my checking account balances. Same thing with making trades on my stock market accounts. Or open up a game and play it. Or subject myself to further abuse and view this thread. I can control my whole house audio system (Sonos) with it and manage my netflix ques. Ect. They do a bulk of what I need them to do...and about 45 million other people seem to think the same thing.

Can you let me know where I can get a dual core Android tablet? I'd love one, but all I can find is single core tablets for $200 more than the IPad.

Typing on an iPad is no where near as efficient as typing on a keyboard though. I've spent quite some time playing with the iPad and 7" Galaxy. We have quite a few iPads floating around and 2 or 3 Galaxy tabs. I don't really dig the 10" form factor, I think it's very unportable(which is just an opinion I hold based on what it does vs other portable devices) and I like the 7" form factor a little better, but it feels a little small. I want to see the 8.9" that Samsung is coming out with, I think that'll be more appropriate size. Maybe not though.

Are there any tablets coming out soon with a pico projector built in? IMO that would be a sweet feature to have.

That's nice. What the people who don't own one, or care to are saying, is that they (I) can do all that with the slight inconvenience of moving off the couch and taking an extra 10 seconds.

Yeh totally. That's why the only Apple product in my house is an iphone4 that I've had since the verizon launch.

If an Android product was as refined, easy to use, priced appropriately, and had the developer support of an iPad I'd applaud them too.

But there isn't one no matter how much people want to hype the Xoom or Galaxy.

Your Evo has a price tag of $450 for a 4.3" screen and is required to have a data plan. The iPad has a 250% bigger display and is not required to have a data plan.

And that's an okay thing to say because it fits the general idea of 'different strokes for different folks'. However, calling people idiots for wanting that type of convenience is the problem, and that is generally what causes these threads to devolve into the fanboy flame fests they usually become.

Yes, but all of those things can be done on the smaller version the iTouch or the iPhone. There was absolutely no need for these to come to the market, other than to give people with more money than sense a toy to buy. There is to much overlap for these products to cost what they do.

well if you had a small dick wouldn't you like a bigger dick?

i mean they're both dicks and function essentially the same, but everybody wants a bigger dick.

srsly I was a huge iPad hater and had the mentality that the iPhone does everything that the iPad would do but nope, I was completely wrong. The extra real estate does make a huge difference.

I agree, something in between the current tablet sizes would be a sweet spot with a higher density display. In regards to typing, it's not a efficient as a keyboard but don't care that much when I'm typing posts in a forum. I prefer having the ability to multi-touch to zoom/unzoom and scroll around a website than using keyboard keys or touchpad and buttons.

a couple dozen of million of people would liek to disagree with you.

if what you were saying was the case, then they would have gone the route of HD-DVD.

We are talking about an Apple product here, you know that right? They could box shit and sell it, everyone knows this. It's the same shit with their stock being 340+. Why? They are a non-necessity, they could disappear tomorrow and the world would function. Yet they're the highest market cap in the tech sector, wtf? Idiots will pay for anything with enough shiny lights on it. I'm not saying EVERYONE who buys Apple products are idiots, obviously they aren't and Apple does make some very very nice products, but quite the significant part of their user base probably couldn't screw in a light bulb.

You've already been provided with examples of Apple products that have failed. So, why do you and others keep spouting that crap?

I know plenty of doctors and scientists that are smarter than the average Android/PC user.

Note - before buying my iPhone, I waited for the Blackberry Storm to come out. The storm sucked arse so hard, I went iPhone.
