I've tried 5 different screw heads but it looks like it's a lost cause..none of them seem to work.

try putting a small piece of a rubber band in there then put your screwdriver in.

What am I looking at? A dashboard? What I'm getting at is it looks like striking it with a hammer to deform it back to what it's supposed to look like is probably out of the question. And, probably using a manual impact is probably no good too.

Try to do some of the stuff people in the thread have said first. If that doesn't work it is going to be tough to do without marring the surrounding surface, but if you're game you could try taking a small chisel or prick punch to the outside edge to break it free. Or, using a dremel like tool grind a slot for a flat blade screwdriver.

Looks like the back of a laptop to me.

As already mentioned, try using the proper screwdriver again but also put a rubber band between the driver and the screw head.

1. Needle nose pliers....looks like you can get a grip on it.

2. Lapping compound...anything you can put in there to create some friction between the screw and the screwdriver...anything gritty.

If you have a harbor freight nearby they are great for sets bits like that which you are only going to use once.

You mean this is one of those itsy bitsy teinsy weinsy laptop screws? Well, in that case OP you're fucked.

Not really, worst case would be just drill the head off, preferably with a reverse drill which might walk it out.
