How can I remove this screw?

Rubber band didn't work, nor did the needle nose pliers. The area around the screw between the plastic isn't big enough..I might have to poke around some more to get more area to work with.

It is the back of the laptop and I'm trying to upgrade the ram, any other tips?

8 in 1 Spider Screwdriver 😀

I have used a small flat blade to remove screws like that with.

It looks like you used too small a philips in the first place.

WTF? In figure 45 it is like way in the ground and not too big but then in Figure 46 it is back out and freaking huge then small again in Figure 47. And what happened to the guy who showed up in Figure 46 but then is just gone in Figure 47? I think about him a lot.

This thread is full of Home Improvement Awesome. *grunt* OP posts a "problem" that really isn't, and the responses range from the practical to the tech expert to the totallly off the wall. ONLY on ATOT, folks.

Might I suggest some parody threads?

Pic of a rubber band around a bag of chips-->"How do I open this? I haven't eaten in 4 days!"
Pic of a glass door with doorknob clearly visible. Nekkid chick on other side of door. "How do I open this? I wantz the sexorzzz!!!"
Pic of watch on wrist, but shirt sleeve partially obscuring face of watch."OMG, I think I'm late!!! How do I tell the time? Helpmeeeee!!!"

Get a needle tool. Use a hammer or end of another screwdriver and tap it softly enough so the tip of a phillips screwdriver can fit in nice and tight. While turning the screwdriver push down.

I'd say go with a Twix (peanut butter, not caramel) or an Almond Joy. Either of those should get the screw out, and you won't be hungry afterwards.

Whatever ends up working, be sure to go get a $2.00 set of precision screw drivers so you don't end up in this situation again.

This situation actually happened to me on a laptop I was working on (came back to me with the philips head all stripped to hell).

The only way I managed to get the thing loose was to drill it out.

Heat it with a soldering iron. Then apply a washcloth damp with cold water.

Then put a new pencil in a drill, eraser side out. Apply light pressure and then slowly spin it out.
