Its pretty interesting seeing the different perks in the USA compared to here in the UK.

I currently get:

45 days PTO

3x Yearly salary to next of kin if you die

Company pension scheme charges 7% before tax and every year you pay in gets you 1/70 of your final salary (so if you paid in for 45 years and earned £70,000/year you would receive a pension of £45,000/year until death, this goes up with inflation)

Fully paid time off sick up to a max of six months, after which its at the managers discretion if they will still pay you. Which they have done for some long term serving employees who have a terminal condition.

Option to buy shares in the company pre tax and you receive a bonus share for every 4 shares you buy provided you keep them for 5 years.

Private medical care (The NHS is pretty good but going private can usually get you seen quicker for non life threatening conditions, or at a minimum the private hospitals have nicer wards)

In the UK you would usually pay 20% tax on what you earn over £10,000 and everything you earn above £42,000 is taxed at 40%. You would also pay national insurance which averages about 10%
 
yes the US sucks for the most part about vacation and time off
this is pretty standard for what people get

0-5yrs - 2 weeks
5-10yrs - 3weeks
10-20yrs - 4 weeks
20+yrs - 5 weeks

also worst maternity leave of any first world country, shit many 3rd world ones have better plans

I am curious.... for those with 6+ weeks of PTO/Sick/Holidays - Where do you work?

I always hear it's liberal areas like the Bay Area that get those kind of benefits. Just curious.... If I need to move 😛

The deep south. We've also had domestic partner benefits since before I started in 2006.

Yeah, you would still buy them pre tax but if you sell them before 5 years you would be liable to pay the tax and national insurance on the value that you purchased them for.

You are limited to a maximum of £1,800/year tax free on company shares schemes which may not be a massive amount its still a nice benefit which can soon add up.

So you would buy £1,800 shares but because you are paying 40% tax + 10% national insurance the real loss to your take home pay £900, then after 5 years you get the bonus share for every 4 shares. You get £2,200 of shares for £900 plus you get the associated dividends (been averaging about 5%/year) too.

You can reinvest the dividends back into the scheme instead of taking the money, you would not pay tax on this dividend reinvestment so you can soon get a nice saving that feeding itself.
 
I'm a FERS federal employee with prior military service.

-8 hours of PTO every pay period (26 days per year)
-4 hours of sick time every pay period (13 days per year)
-10 Federal Holidays
-Pension based on high 3
-TSP gives 100% match on first 3% of contributions, 50% on next 2%

EDIT: We get health insurance through my wife who is retired military.
 
current job:

3 weeks PTO
'unlimited' sick days (if it's over a week or two they like to know what's up and possibly look at starting short term disability)
6% matched 401k vested day 1
3x salary if I die which is free
high deduct insurance 4k max outta pocket 95 per month for just myself

wish the insurance was better, but they do throw $2,000 into an HSA for me every year at least. I also dump $50 a paycheck into the HSA. I also noticed checking the HSA box on my taxes this year gave me a decent refund too.
 
Forgot to say with mine, I do get something like..... 6 weeks? 9 weeks? Something like that of paternity leave. Paid.

Also will help pay for things revolving around fertility/baby making including freezing semen/eggs, and insemination... Because when you work like you do here, the last thing you can afford is to have a baby now. You keep telling yourself later... later... until you're a woman that can't even produce eggs anymore 😉

Eh...I get it. It encourages people to stay home when sick (and not infect everyone else with their plague-ry) instead of hoarding the days for a vacation

Id say your average medical, dental, vision. Low OR high deductible plans available.
Flex time. 3 schedules to pick. Standard M-F and 2 9-80 shedules where you get every other friday off.

I can't stockpile vacation days year over year. I can stockpile sick days. Right now if I break my leg I can walk out the door and collect full salary for just about a year before burning through all my days.
 
80 hrs/year vacation; as needed sick days; 10 fixed holidays plus one day to select for a personal holiday. 8 weeks paternity leave, private disability insurance at 70% of salary for up to a year (maybe 18 months).

Fully paid medical for entire immediate family, no deductible, reasonable copays ($300 for ER, $20 UC, $10 normal doc) with a max of 1000/person in a year, and 2000/family. Dental, and vision for me, charge $18/month to cover full family. Life insurance on myself at 3x salary, plus extra 250k term life for $8/month.

Up to 5500/year in 401(k) matching, but in a tiered system based on straight dollar amounts. Company stock purchases at 15% discount on market value, up to $20k/year.

2 review periods a year with cash and stock bonus opportunities, plus raises - with good ratings it's averaged about 10% of salary in cash bonus each year, and similar amounts in RSUs vesting over 3 years.
