There are about 400 people here and groups of paychecks are given to about 20 different people who distribute them to the employees. The 20 people who distribute them are an unusual mix - some are managers, some are secretaries, some are regular employees. Doesn't seem to be any system to who they are.
If someone isn't at work on payday, they put the check in the employee's top desk drawer.
When I started here I wondered why they just didn't hold onto them until the employee returned, but that's just not the way they do it. The checks are put in the desk.
