The transcript reads like something from the Godfather movie honestly. "We've been very good to you yes? Now we need you to do us a favor"

I'm looking forward to Barr explaining that there's no appearance of a conflict of interest and therefore has no reason to recuse.

The House needs to send a formal demand (not request) referencing Constitutional impeachment authority and precedent, a warrant accompanying it with a drop-dead date. "Arrest me"? Ok.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that an explicit quid-pro-quo is not required, because even though it may have been only implied, it was blindingly obvious to everyone involved that there was money sitting approved to help Ukraine defend itself, Trump had delayed the payment, and now he's leaning hard on the Ukranian president to help Trump win an election. No matter what the transcript says, there is no doubt about any of that. The only thing we need the transcript for is to show Trump repeatedly asking for the Bidens to be investigated.

It's useful because it shows how far down the rabbit hole these people are if they really believe this edited memorandum is exonerating. Even over and above pressuring a foreign leader to investigate his political rival, Trump is demanding that the President of Ukraine chase down Infowars-level conspiracy theories about a DNC server somewhere in Ukraine! That's pants-on-head level nuts.

Did Trump indicate when he would release a transcript of the conversation that kicked this off? Since that's going to be the central piece of evidence, I'd like to read it.

"today." but the fact that there is a delay at all is strange. If it's perfect and no problem, there's no reason to stew on it.

Also, the complaint is more than this one phone call. the testimony from the whistleblower is vastly more important than the Trump-bleached transcript of the one phone call. It is known to cover more than this single event.

trump will be neither impeached or removed from office over this. The dems "jumped the shark"... again. And it will come back to hurt them. I predict this story will go away a lot quicker than the russia conspiracy story.

lol, it's all the same story.

wtf do you think the Russia story has "gone away"? Your TV hasn't been yelling to you about it recently, so it just disappeared from your brain?

This is actually going on every day, and has been going on since at least 2015 from a political perspective, and since the 90s from a "Trump can't get any more money unless it's from Russian criminals" perspective.

I don't think it's a 0% chance he's removed from office. Oh, it's not high, but it's not 0% either.

Two things have a shot at happening.

1. Trump resigns so Pence can pardon him from his vast array of crimes so he can keep his criminal enterprise and ass out of prison. This may have a surprisingly good chance of happening....

2. Senate Rs freak out about losing seats and decide to go Ceasar on Trump to save themselves. Watch for tanking poll numbers. Will precipitate #1.

Very little chance he's actually removed from office, then put on trial and sent to prison. Shame really.

Nothing Pence or GOP can do to save Trump and his empire from NYSA's office.

This family is going to be fucked.

If Trump has evidence of wrong-doing he should take it to the FBI, he shouldn't even ask them to investigate. That wouldn't be appropriate. Asking a foreign leader to investigate while with-holding aid is so far beyond the line that it's going to be indefensible. Probably why Pelosi decided to run with it.

yet look at the republicans in here, already desperate to defend it...merely a day removed from demanding evidence.

Now they have the donkey himself admitting to this, publicly, provided concrete, unambiguous evidence that he did exactly that, now they are dreaming about tan suits and mustard because "goddamnit something is not right in my bubble!" It must be painful for GOPers when they get smashed with the cudgel of inarguable reality.

It won't, they'll scream 'unfair!' then rattle the chains of the SC for the next decade.

Rudy most also recuse himself here, and any contact with Trump ongoing is highly suspect for further criminal activity.

Yep, they're already talking about how "Biden is getting a pass," even though no one wants Biden to get a pass. While they are desperately trying to make sure that Trump gets yet another pass.
The problem with partisans is that they want everything to be partisan, including the law.

Meanwhile, Trump's Ministry of Truth is already springing into action to pre-smear the whistleblower's credibility using exquisitely concern-trolly headlines like "Questions about alleged political bias of Trump whistleblower emerge; Will impeachment probe backfire on Dems?" It's gonna get slimy
Hopefully the real media doesn't roll over and completely let Fox control the narrative, yet again.

The mainstream media won't. The problem is the people who really need to know what is actually happening will only get their news from Fox anyway.

Oh, I don't know. I've seen an alarming number of mainstream media sources agree that there's no quid-pro-quo in the memo. Mobsters around the world are undoubtedly nodding their heads in approval at the idea that it's ok to extort people just so long as you only do so via inference.

That's what I'm hoping for, otoh its also the thing that may make him really desperate and dangerous.

Scorched Earth may be his only chance at survival, which means this could get nasty and brutal, esp if Rs continue to hang onto him rather than throw him under the bus.

McConnell and pence are craven, so who would stand up as the moral leader of Senate gop?

Romney? Rubio? Murkowski? Some back bencher? IDK. Who can open the door for the prison break?

Won't be the hypocritical evangelicals....
