I read the statement aloud at a painfully slow rate, perhaps 1/4 normal speech. I then watched videos of conversations from the UN to judge how long a diplomatic translation takes. Suffice it to say that there is no reason to believe that this exchange took as long as stated even allowing for translations and communication lags. I allow that there were multiple holds where Pompeo and others discussed what Trump would be saying but that makes it worse, not better.

Oh I agree, why would the administration start telling the truth now?
More like setting the expectation that these conversations go slow and there likely are words missing. Up to Congress to find those missing words.

Trump Publicly Asks ANOTHER Foreign Power for Election Help
China ‘Should Start an Investigation Into the Bidens’

The world, according to Trump. Other nations should win him these elections. I guess cause it happened once already.

Sounds like Trump is going for the 'if it was illegal/unethical would I do it out in the open' defense. He is betting on being able to convince everyone that because he is so brazen about it that is proof it is not a big deal.

What I'd really like to see happen is a comparison being made of the version that Zelensky's own staff recorded/authored with the "edited" version Trump released.

If turnabout is fair play, Zelensky could plausibly have something on Trump that can be used as leverage against him if Zelensky's recordings prove to be the damning icing on the cake that Trump baked for himself.

It's like both Trump and Giuliani have the same debilitating habit of denying what they said the moment after they said it or "clarifying" what they said to mean just the opposite of what they previously stated dependent on how it all played out in their ratings numbers coming from Trump's base.

He's lost all cares, as Republicans stand silently by. Maybe they've given up, and are supplying rope. Nah.

Yeah, isn't that lovely? What's next, this will become a term in our trade negotiations? Both economies held hostage by Trump's political desires?

Like how he intimidates witnesses and obstructs justice on tweeter. People just can't wrap their heads around it.

Stable Genius should be able to figure out not to do the thing he's being impeached for today though. Seems like that might be pushing it.

Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people that believe anything he says. We have a few of them here.

From what I heard on the radio while in the car the President is doing his threes again
Pretty sure I heard:
3 Biden corrupt mentions
3 Something illegal is happening type things
*I think* I heard 3 mentions China should investigate/look into

Following the sales 101 book he read decades ago.

The good thing is, if he actually tried to pull this on China they would have incentive to turn it over to Congress and could deal with the short term fall out.

Even after doing it this openly the repubs in congress will still insist that's not what he said.
No they are just going to say it isn't bad. Trump is trying to fight corruption and it is the Dems trying to protect it.

60 million suckers looking for a bridge.

I was “speaking” with someone else the other day about how I’ve read or been trained in methods about how the president speaks, not to speak like him but I see basic sales concepts in the Presidents words.
He says important points or something he wants done 3 times, he tends to say it the same way with different words all 3 times. He mentions fear items minimal one topic per discussion but as above he says it 3 times.
The President also frequently talks about three topics 3 times.
All sorts of training material about the “rule of 3” in sales.

I've read about it. It just seems some people are more susceptible to these things than others. It certainly seems that for a few decades a particular demographic of voters has been targets for their enlarged amygdala's.

Well there goes another article of impeachment with Trump telling China, with whom he's in trade negotiations, that they ought to investigate the Bidens as no one has any doubts that they aren't crooked.

I wouldn't want to be a Republican in Congress trying to defend these actions, not as if they do but divert instead.

I would like to thank Trump for forcing the Senate to remove him. Well no, I don't thank him but I appreciate him putting McConnells balls in a vise. When Grassley spoke that should have been seen as a WTF by Team Trump.

McConnell must be doing all sorts of maths regarding is a President Pence worth it even if it’s only for one year.

Does the fact that we are in trade negotiations with China really matter as to the constitutionality of a sitting president using his power to harm his political opponents?

Let’s say Biden’s son was indeed involved in corruption, would that change things? What if it was an intelligence agency forwarding information to another government that dealt with corruption by a US citizen? Would that be ok?

I'm not saying you are wrong and I agree with what you are saying but in addition to his unconstitutional actions the context and timing add gravity and seriousness to his actions for which we agree are worthy of impeachment and removal all on their own.
