jeezey peetes....this stuff is confusing....the express network high-speed internet...is that just the web browsing through the phone, or can you use the phone to dial-up with a data cable for a laptop, or what all exactly...i started reading the posts above, but i'm getting a headache :)

killabase:

Express Network is via laptop, PDA, etc.

My Kyocera 2235 when you use the browser you are using the 14.4 service (QNC). Express really wouldn't benefit the crappy WAP browsers.... just the PDA's and laptops.

I have the LG VX4400 and I love it. I havent had a problem with it yet. It does what I want and it's hackable. The only think I liked better about my Timeport 270C was the speakerphone and the swivel clip. That's it.

I found out about this two weeks ago and called in. The rep told me I must have mobil web to have it enabled (because it is an enhancement to that service). Meanwhile my buddy did not have to do that. I called back and had mobile web removed the with in 15 minutes. Express network still worked and on top of that on my old Single Rate East plan and I did not have to renew my contract. It is also NOT a trial for 30 days. I just upgraded to America's choice yesterday (needed it because of EN eating my minutes) and it has been working.

Right now I dont have a cell phone, buts lets say I join Verizon Wireless. I buy a 1xRtt phone and a $40 Americas Choice plan.

Based on the first post, I would be able to use that phone as a modem for my computer on the Express Network automatically since I would have joined after June 2, 2003?

Also wouldnt I need to get the Mobile Office package to be able to install drivers and software for my computer? This honestly sounds too good to be true...

Yeah, make sure you get the Express Network (sometimes they'll forget).

You'll definately need the cable. I'm not sure what others are using but I got my cable for $20 at radioshack and downloaded my drivers from www.futuredial.com

I have a VX4400.

Check if radio shack has cables for your phone!

Is the cable USB or serial?

The REP confirmed with me that if you have unlimited nights and weekend, during THOSE times then the service will be unlimited :)

I actually connected using the #777 setup, but my VX4000 port speed is set at 19600. My modem is installed as a 19600, and my "Prolific USB-to-Serial comm port (COM3)" is set at 19600. If i try any faster settings my phone WON'T communicate with the PC. My download speeds are 1.1kB/s.

I'm getting full strength 1x connection to my house.

I am using the radioshack cable for vx1 and the prolific usb drivers.

How are you guys connection? What settings, phone, usb cable, and drivers/software?

And what transfer speed are you getting?

I get about 1.9kb/s.

SPEED TESTED here: http://homepage.tinet.ie/~leslie/testpage.htm

Thanks
David

You need to set your port speed higher ... up in the 154600 range.

KrustyVT, That makes sense, but I can't set it higher... It won't even reconize my phone when i set it higher. I set both the port speed and the phone to the higher speeds, but no luck :(

Any ideas?

BTW: Krusty, what drivers and cable are you using?

THanks
David

i would do this deal, but everytime i try to dial using QNC, i get an error 641 or something, so i dont see how this would work out any better. checked settings, all the ports speeds match up, phone being recognized, turned off flow control, still doesnt want to dial. i tried it awhile back, so i dont remember all the infomration. so, oh well, unless someone else has another suggestion. btw, yes i tried the init string too and im using a vx4400 with firmware v.06

I have the Motorola T720, and I'm using the USB data cable I got off ebay from Eforcity ... using the Motorola USB Modem driver in Windows XP. Are you using the init string?
