When you plug the data cable into your computer it will appear in your device manager as another "modem" that can be used to establish a connection. Simply dial #777 and login to use QNC (14.4). You won't be able to use EN with your non-1X Nokia phone.

How do you know if your phone is 1x capable or not? I have a Samsung a530...will this work? Any site which lists the capable phones?

All of the newer "Get It Now" phones are EN enabled. For a fairly up-to-date list, check out VZW EN Phones. Note that while the A530 is not on that list, it is indeed EN enabled.

Rumors of the deal not being legit are unfounded... people are confirming the deal all over.

Verizon is a pain to deal with, but the network is great... so worth the effort.

This is a hot deal, it really is usable service!

aw man - is there a best way to get this plan added to my account? i don't want to wait on hold again for a CSR who will probably tell me the same thing (One month free, only!) - anyone have an extension or email of someone @ Verizon that WILL let you pull this off, or a certain thing to ask for (besides the 1XPP1 code) that they'll understand? If so... either post or email to droppedd at hotmail dot youknowwhat... thanks.

I've read all the usenet forums and such. Has anyone here had any luck getting this option without renewing your contract? I have a Motorola T720 that I got in November with 400 daytime and unlimited nights and weekends, but wanted to see if anyone else has succeeded before I tangle with CS.
Thanks

How did you do that? I'd buy now for the same deal...

I've been emailing with wirelessdata@verizonwireless.com, they've been telling me that its automatic for anyone who signs on after june 2nd, but if I want to add it on, I can send an email to them and they will foward it to the Customer Care Dept.

I'd like to add it, but I don't want to have to sign a new contract, anyone know of how to keep my old contract and just add the service?

I don't use Verizon's wireless web to connect to internet/WAP sites on my VX4400. I changed the settings so I get free wireless web. So I don't know if I'm on QNC because I don't login anywhere. Is the Express Network only for people using Verizon's wireless web service (the $5 or $6 a month plan).

I'd like to use this, but not if it means paying for wireless web. Some help please. Thanx.

To answer the questions.

It is not a promotion, it is a "chance of poilicy" on newet plans. You can use Express network with Minutes of use on newer plans. Verizon reps are pretty clueless.

America Choise after June 3 in some areas are supposed to have it automatic, others have been able to call in and have it added to older plans.

it is a Verizon deal right now in most markets for the Vx4400 for $49 after rebate, the added car adapters and leather cases sounds like a indirect agent deal.

Here's what CS wrote me. Bad news I guess concerning people that want to get this without renewing their contract. I'm going to go to the local Verizon over the weekend and talk to someone to see if they say differently.

Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless website. As part of our
Worry Free Guarantee, your concern becomes our concern the first time
you contact us. We would be happy to assist you with your
Express Network question.

Express Network data session airtime is taken from your airtime
allowance just like your voice calls, so there's no need to keep track of a
separate airtime allowance.

* The Express Network is capable of data speeds bursting up to 144
Kbps. Data speeds may vary depending on network and equipment capabilities
and other variables of wireless service.

Express Network brings you:

Faster Browsing--Express Network makes downloading those
graphics-intensive web pages faster, giving you the material you want without the
wait.

Speedier E-mail--Express Network downloads e-mails and attachments
(even complex spreadsheets and presentations) faster, getting you in and
out of e-mail in a flash!

Verizon Wireless recommends that you sign up for an Express Network
Unlimited or Megabyte feature/calling plan, as you monthly allotment of
airtime minutes will be used quickly when connecting to
Express Network.

As of June 2, 2003, all refreshed Voice Calling Plans, National
SingleRate, America's Choice, America's Choice Family Share, Local
DigitalChoice and Local DigitalChoice Family Share plans will have
the Auto-Provisioned Express Network Data Feature. The
Auto-Provisioned Express Network Data Feature (which is intended for future data
products) is no additional charge, grants access to the Express
Network, and will allow you to connect to the Express Network using
your airtime minutes. The Auto-Provisioned Express Network Data Feature
is not available to AirCard users.

The Auto-Provisioned Express Network Data Feature cannot be added to a
price plan establish before June 2, 2003. If you wish to have this
feature, you must sign up for a new price plan (as of June 2,
2003).
If you wish to change your price plan, please reply to this
e-mail and we will forward your request to our Customer Care department.
Or, simply dial *611 from your wireless phone.

If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us anytime
through e-mail using the address of wirelessdata@verizonwireless.com. We
appreciate your business and thank you for choosing
Verizon Wireless.

If that's true, then sweet. It doesn't help that I've read about 5 different things coming straight from Verizon reps. It makes impossible to decipher what is true or not.

That line about renewing your contract is bogus ... this feature does NOT require you to pay additional money and does NOT require you to extend your contract. If the rep on the phone tells you this, hang up, call back.

I can't understand why everyone is having so much trouble with this ... it literally took me 2 minutes on the phone - 1 minute on hold, 1 minute talking to the rep. I said I was interested in the new EN plan, I confirmed it used minutes only and resulted in no additional charges, I mentioned I had the 1XPP1 code, the rep was completely cooperative and she definitely already knew about the deal.

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. We appreciate your interest in our services.

Express Network is a high speed voice and data network. It is integrated in our overall network and you may be on it at any time. Express Network also provides high speed data transfer to PC/PDA
users who are mobile and wish to have wireless access. This is an additional feature that requires special data plans being added to an account for a fee. Our new Americas Choice plans do not
include Express Network at no charge.

As part of our Worry Free Guarantee you have the option to change to any qualifying price plan or airtime promotion at any time. Write to us again through www.VerizonWireless.com if you have any
further questions.

Sincerely,

Fred

I love how this rep says it's not free and 7 posts(I counted!) above, another rep says that it is free. HA

COOL, After TWO hours :) I got in, and it worked great! I added it to my LOCAL calling plan which they normally DO NOT ALLOW. They only allow for America's Calling plan :)

I could have told you that if I knew you weren't on an A.C. plan :)

Glad you got it working anyway.

Any comments on phones? I'm either looking at the Kyocera KWC 2325, or one an LG VX2000 pr VX4400, VX3100 or VX4400. I have never heard of LG though. Any comments would be appreciated.
