>>I agree with you on this.

RANT:

And who are you guys to deserve this? I mean what rationale allows you to get what someone else acquired using their effort? So it showed up on the internet , so friggin what? A few years back I bought a 500 zip drives from SEARS at 54.95 and sold most on ebay at $120 a pop. Then out of the goodness of my heart I set aside 25 to sell here to people at my cost. I got a few thanks, but mostly a bunch of whiny pathetic pansies crying that 25 was not enough.

To put that into perspective, I lost around $1500 to do the guys on this board a favor. I made a killing, but still, I lost $1,500 of easy money because I had a sense of community with people I never met. I was the one who did the hustling, rented the Uhaul, bargained for the drives, had the credit to buy them and actually did all the labor. Before I see anyone else cast a stone, I'd like to see them do what I did or less. In short, the early bird gets the worm and the rest of you can SUCK IT TREBEK.

Oh...have a nice day...

I completely disagree with Greg03. Most people don't submit deals to this site so that eBay professionals like yourself can snap up every available item. It's for regular Joe's to go out and pick up some great deals for personal consumption. For that reason, the animosity directed at people like you is perfectly reasonable. You mention setting aside 25 of the 500 zip drives you bought for this forum, but realistically if people like you (although maybe not you specifically) find deals, they are more likely to buy a bunch then to post the deel here. I'm sure there are plenty of people who read this forum just so they can cash in. I think it's wrong, and so do a lot of other people.

First post here, but had to let everyone know-

Fedex Ground delivered my drive this morning, and much to my surprise, it is in fact a 7200 RPM drive, not a 5400. So, for $113 shipped, no rebates, I now have a 80gb USB 2.0 external hard drive 🙂

Smoking deal. Hopefully everyone that ordered one got a 7200 RPM!

Oh, and did I mention it has a cool little "leatherette" 😉 carrying case that holds the drive, software, the power supply and even the included USB cable?

Ditto, just got mine too

Transferring my stuff to it as I write this 😀

All you guys, enjoy your Que's

I'd like to cast my lot with NorCalBoarder. The argument he laid forth is extremely compelling.

I for one would submit that Greg03's business of freeloading on the research of others, while completely legal and allowed, is not one that allows him to condemn those individuals who also would like to take advantage of a hot deal.

This back-and-forth between the ebay professionals and the individuals will continue as long as the hot deal continues to exist. Such is life.

So how many is an "appropriate" number to buy? Who gets to decide who is worthy of the deal and who isn't? Is the originator of the thread free to buy up 1,000 drives?

Get over it. There is no ethical issue here. People can buy -- or not buy -- whatever they want.

Mine was shipped on monday, however it says it's going to be delivered in Texas... not San Diego according to the tracking. No response yet from Compussr.

Make that three! Indeed a 7200 80G.

Works great. The carrying case is a nice touch.

Just out of curiosity, do the 7200's you guys are getting have firewire/usb 2.0 or just usb 2.0?

Also is the model number different than what's listed and does it say 7200 on the front?

Thanks for the info, would really like one of these hope they come back in stock soon

CompUSA seems to love to screw up on shipping. They usually ship from TX on my last few orders. I live in MA. They sent my order out to FedEx and the mailing address and the sender address was THIER OWN ADDRESS! When they got the package back, they sent it to the correct address....idiots!

The rebate ends on 9/30, I guess there will be a restock like yesterday. But, need luck. 1st time it lasted 4 hours and last time it lated 2hours.......

Greg03 probably go the deal from here. then he is cheating the forum/community. He is a dam traitor. Enthusiasts communities like these are to help each others out, not to cash in for one's personal benefits. some body buys more that a couple is greedy and ought to be shot (exageration)
