I'm still going to wait to see how the ATI deal pans out. I placed my order that first late Fri evening. If I don't get it there's always something else.

same debate over here... but I end up paying CA tax... blows the deal for me at $267 vs. $233 for the refurbed.

Pay an extra $34 for instant video card gratification and for a retail or wait until hell freezes over and ATI decides to ship out the refurbs?

How is MSI's reputation for customer service and quality of their products?

I had an MSI 9800 Pro that was very good w/ a large CD bundle....crappy games however. I would not hesitate to get another MSI product.

I ordered the refurb X800XT PE from ATI. Who knows when I'll get it....This deal from ZZF is only $17 more incl shipping. It's a retail box, not refurb.

My current BFG 6800 OC (which I paid $199 for 3 months ago) works fine.

Do I cancel the ATI deal & get the ZZF deal?

Man if I was in your situation I think I would sit this out and wait for the next upgrade cycle!
I am upgrading from a 9800 Pro so this is a big step for me!

I'm sticking with the ATI deal because:

1. I'm confident I'll have the card in 10 days (plus I DON'T want the charge to hit my credit card for 5-7 more days;-). Also, ATI can't bill your credit card until the card ships which means they can't claim revenue for the sale until it ships either.
2. I'm guessing it'll be a NEW card and comes with the 3-year warranty from ATI.
3. With regards the Sapphire X800XT (non PE)...the ATI cards are "legit" X800XT PE (i.e., comes pre-clocked at PE speeds) so no overclocking required which may/will void any warranty.
4. Still ~$15 bucks cheaper than the MSI deal (if you'd like the game bundle with the MSI deal or need the card ASAP...than I'd get the MSI). Also, if you've got a "see thru" case window...I'd buy the MSI because I think it looks "cooler" than the ATI cards;-).

My $0.02.

That's the spirit. You'll probably be disappointed in 10 days, but I also hope mine ships soon. If it ships in then next 30 days (I ordered on the first day of the deal), i'll be happy. Oherwise i'll just wait for the 7600 GT.

Very good points...I'm not in any rush to get a new video card. I just felt I couldn't pass up such a sweet deal. The MSI is very tempting....

I guess I'll wait for the ATI. Thanks.

I'm just hoping ATI doesn't put out a R520 based AGP card before mine ships. I would probably end up getting one of those, so I would be out $500+ if that happens!

People have called ATI and the PE's will start to ship on the 16th or 17th. We have waited this long, we can wait a little longer.

LOL...not being judgemental, but I don't know how you guys shell out ~$400 or more for a video card and on a regular basis:). I agree that PC gaming really is inexpensive entertainment even if a person spends >$400 every year or so on a video card, but I just could not do it;).

Do you always sell the card you're replacing...that would make it less painful for myself; however, I usually give my "old" cards to my teenage nephews. Just curious.

I sell all of my old PC parts on Ebay. I got $120 for my old 9800 Pro a couple of months ago.

I have a limit to how much I'll spend on a any PC component...$250 for a CPU or video card.

It is with BF2!

Which deal comes with BF2?

None. I was just commenting on upgrading from a 9800 Pro to the XT PE and my response was to the post TrojanAaron made.

My 9800 Pro does alright at BF2 but it's just a little to choppy for my liking.

The MSI X800XT Platinum Edition at ZZF for $249 is out of stock... looks like the only thing left to do is wait out for ATI to ship out the refurbs.

Just talked to an ATI CSR. Though he admitted they weren't entirely in the loop (they just learned of the PE being pulled from the website this morning) he said that he thought there was a chance that not all orders would be filled.

His story was that the cards aren't coming in quick enough to get refurbed. I don't know if I buy that as I agree with others in the thread who think that this is an inventory reduction and not a clearance of all the refurbed cards they had laying around.

Guess this post was pointless since it's still "no news".

Almost the same thing. I called them 2 minutes ago and the CSR told me that "The Platinums are having supply issues. Check back later today or tomorrow morning and we'll have more information. I really don't know more than that, they haven't told us what will be happening on the refurbished Platinums yet".

Looks like they had too many orders placed for the refurbished cards, and they're not sure on how to fill all the orders.

I smell a lame coupon coming for those whose orders won't be filled as compensation.
