It loops indefinitely or until the computer errors.

Max safe Vcore depends on cooling technique (air, water, phase, DICE or LN2).

In your case, aircool with Tuniq, 1.45V is probably the max most would not cross. Even that may be a little crispy. The LN2 guys will push theirs up to 1.9V and higher.

At -30C I push my B3 with 1.5V and don't mind doing it. I would be comfortable pushing 1.6V at -30C temps.

But for air, definitely stay <1.5V.

Ok, I have my B3's @75-77c all day every day. I expect they will bake it 3 years by what I have read. Thats the best I can tell you. What speed are you up to at 72c ??

Markfw900 what's your Vcore to generate those temps?

Can you give Heller some realistic upper bounds on Vcore for B3? Mines under phase so I am zero help here.

yikes, turning the tuniq down to low the temps are peaking at 79*c

I Think tomorrow im going to reset the HSF.

whats the proper way of applying the paste, i put a rice grain size and smoothed it out evenly with a plastic bag inside out.

Follow this for best results. I've done it that way both with AS5 and TX-2 with good results.

for all you B3 owners, do you think i should reset the cpu and apply my paste again? or should i be happy with what i have and except the fact that B3's are hot?

edit: heres is screenshot of my temps.

Thats about what I get at that speed. It up to you, but thats normal IMO

Prime it overnight and see what the temps are doing. Use coretemp as it writes to a log file - this way if the system dies you have an idea of the max temps.

You can always do a re-mount to compare temps.

Thats what im doing, can i run the SFF test all night or should i run something else?

I let it run and then when to the bar with some friends and came back, its been running for 1 hour 30 mins stable with a peak temp of 77*

im going to let it run tonight and check back tomorrow.

also im going to reset the tuniq tower tomorrow.

when mounting the tower should i get it as tight as i can or is to tight bad? right now its snug and not moving at all but with some force i can turn the knobs some more...

Mark, with your b3's running at that temp, what heatsink are you using? also how much vcore?

also, am i doing something wrong or is my tuniq working properly? is their anything im doing wrong on my half thats making my cpu so hot or is it just the way the B3's are?

Heat was the biggest reason I got rid of my Q6600 B3. :D At 3.2GHz with good cooling all around, it still pegged up to 70C and sometimes beyond.

Tighten the screws down until they bottom out. The springs will maintain the correct pressure! The latest Prime95 client will run four threads for you as well. Orthos is good for duals but quads should be tested with Prime95 v25.3 or greater.

thats how you install the tuniq, lol, turn it sideways and check your thremal paste again, should be fine after you install it like in the above link.

That really depends on your case. Most cases have a fan right behind the CPU and thus the best way is blowing from front to back like the OP posted.

I know with mine I would not want it blowing the heat directly into the intake of the power supply!

64 bit version of Prime95

Not sure if you are reffering to fan behind the cpu as the exhaust fan because that would be pulling air out of the chasis.

Well, that link is from Uberclock Ion's system using the similar motherboard. I am saying that he should try that configuration because the fan works way better from my experience with it is to the right side, that's parallel to the exhaust fan on the left.

so basically,

|| -- exhaust (())tuniq and then fan on the right of the tunq ||

this way air blows from right to left on the chasis, from the front of the case to the rear and out from the exhaust.

Try this configuration i guarantee you will see an improvement.

This scheme is what gave me best results - front to back flow. Stacker 830.

I'm using a TRUE now with a different config - same case though.

It's funny, I have the same HSF, the same case, the same CPU, and the same problem. My B3 Q6600 @ 3.0ghz (1.3v) tops out at 70c, which is as warm as I'm willing to let it go. I think you ended up in the same boat as I, you just got a really hot chip.

vcore is around 1.35 under load. I think its 1.475 in bios on my S3 (bad vdroop also) And temps are ~75-77c. Cooling in a Sythe Ninja.

arent b3 chips supposed to have a tj max of 85c?? i was under the impression coretemp 96.1 changed all tj maxes back to 85c.
